⢠Brownie Troops 837 and 1170 celebrated Girl Scout Week at Middle Gate by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing âItâs a Small Worldâ during morning announcements on March 14. This year marks the 95th anniversary of Girl Scouting in America.
⢠Sandy Hook Brownie Troop 843 visited the Discovery Museum in Bridgeport. They saw a show at the planetarium, completing requirements for the Space Explorer badge. Seated in the planetarium are, front row from left, Amelia Schill, Alexandra Muzzio, and Caroline Daria; second row, Skylar Moavero, Alexandra Benvenuti, Haley Dickenson, and Jessica Maturo. The troop also donated Girl Scout Cookies to FAITH Food Pantry in Sandy Hook.
⢠Newtown Girl Scouts participated in the GSCSWCTâs âBe Your Bestâ community service event, organized by Catherine Menousek of Troop 749. Local scouts collected pet food, cleaning supplies, and toys for the Newtown Dog Pound during Girl Scout Week, March 11â17. ⢠Reed Schoolâs fifth grade Troop 725 recently visited the Garbage Museum in Stratford. ⢠Brownie Troop 1170 visited Ronald McDonald House in New Haven. The second grade troop from Middle Gate School met with Janet Hanscom, director of house operations, to tour the facility. The girls learned about the great service the organization provides to families. Troop 1170 presented a Gift of Caring donation of 144 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies for families to enjoy during their stay, and get well cards they made.
⢠On March 2, 75 Newtown Girl Scouts and 60 parents spent the night âSleeping with the Sealsâ in an overnight program at the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk. Activities included seal feeding, a behind-the-scenes tour, and crafts before the group settled in for the evening alongside jellyfish and sharks.
