Robert D. McNeil

Robert D. McNeil, 81, of Linda Avenue, Waterford, died October 31 at Bayview Healthcare Center.

Mr McNeil was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on June 27, 1922, the son of Alexander and Mary Langton Gantert McNeil. He married Ahmo F. Wilson on February 1, 1946, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She died on September 30, 1984.

He is survived by his ten children and their spouses, Michael and Rosemary McNeil of Sparta, N.J., Gregory and Cyndi McNeil of Citrus Heights, Calif., Mark McNeil of San Diego, Calif., Timothy and Carey Anne McNeil of Waterford, Andrew and Carolyn McNeil of Norwich, and Christopher and Brenda McNeil, also of Norwich; Patricia and Thomas Passaro of Waterford, Mary and Bruce Earwaker of South Windsor, Megan and Wally Stone of Waterford, and Jennifer and Russell Gregory, also of Waterford; his sister Dorothy Unger of Newtown; 22 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr McNeil served as a chief hospital corpsman in WWII and Korea. He retired after 20 years of service in 1960. He then was employed at the Pfizer Corporation for the next 24 years, until his retirement in June of 1984.

He was a member of St Joseph Church in New London. He was a man proud of his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held November 3 in St Joseph Church, New London, followed by burial in St Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
