To the Editor:

In the past 21 months, I have met and spoken with many elected officials – both here in Connecticut and in Washington DC – as I advocated for sensible gun legislation. Having spent time with Kim Fawcett on several occasions and after learning about her record as State Representative, I am stepping up to support her for State Senate in District 28 (Newtown, Easton, Fairfield, Weston and Westport).

Kim talked with me about the time she spent in Newtown this summer going door-to-door, listening to the concerns of residents and hearing a surprising number of stories about the impact that gun violence has had on the lives of people here. It is clear that Kim was deeply affected by that experience – and she will carry this understanding with her as she continues her support of strong gun legislation in Connecticut.

Kim is a mother of three, and her record is clear evidence of her commitment to protecting Connecticut’s children. She supported improved security for our schools, works to reduce child exposure to toxins in plastics and cleaning products, and views better access to mental health care for children as a priority. She also has a history of cutting unnecessary budgetary spending, opposing a Metro-North fare hike while working toward improved safety and updated infrastructure. Kim supports innovative solutions to keep seniors comfortably in their homes, and has an excellent environmental record.

From what I have seen and learned, Kim Fawcett is experienced, smart, savvy, and she has the right priorities. Please get out and vote in this important election – and make the smart move of voting for Kim Fawcett to be our next state senator.
