AnnaLee Snellman of Norwalk and Robert Martin Carr of Wilton were united in marriage at 6:15 pm on May 2 on the shore of Grace Bay Beach, at Grace Bay Club, Providenciales, Turks & Caicos, B.W.I., by Pastor Sherlock H. Padmore. The aisle was lined with hot pink bougainvillea and palm leaves, with three tall billowing flags and the Caribbean ocean as the backdrop, and powdery white sand underfoot.
The couple now resides in their lakeside retreat in Newtown with their golden retriever Oâahu and âhoneymoon babyâ/Potcake puppy that the happy couple rescued from the island Caicos Calypso Carr.
For her wedding, the bride wore a re-embroidered blush on ivory lace gown by Monique Lâhuillier. The bridesmaids all wore breezy aqua chiffon dresses by J. Crew. The groom wore a Robert Graham tropical shirt and his groomsmen wore white linen shirts with light cream silk blend pants by Tommy Bahama. During the ceremony the couple was filmed for the TLC hit television series Say Yes to the Dress, sharing their memorable and love-filled day with everyone.
Geraldine and Göte Snellman of Norwalk are the parents of the bride. Margaret and Jim Wood of Wilton are the parents of the groom. The bride was given into marriage by her father.
Carolyn J. Hebert, cousin of the bride, was the maid of honor. Kim Damato, Rina Britell, and Erin Prastine, all longtime friends of the bride, were the bridesmaids. Sara Marie Snellman, niece of the bride, and Anna Hebert, cousin of the bride, were the flower girls.
Matthew Carr and Prescott Carr, brothers of the groom, were both best men. Daniel Fowler and Kenneth Shuler, college friends of the groom, were the groomsmen. Mathew Timothy Snellman, nephew of the bride, was the ring bearer.
AnnaLeeâs bouquet was fuchsia cattleya orchids, mixed lime green, bright yellow and white cymbidium orchids, plus orange mokara orchids, all wrapped in jute, along with her motherâs pearl rosary beads and a white handkerchief and her mother-in-lawâs gold Tiffany wishbone brooch, itself a gift from her mother.
Her attendants carried bouquets that complemented the brideâs. Theirs included bright yellow and green and pink cymbidium orchids with orange mokara orchids and white dendrobium, also wrapped in jute.
David Bowen, along with his wife and children, performed Caribbean music for the ocean-side ceremony.
An evening reception was held at Anacaona at the Grace Bay Club with the entertainment provided by Lee Forbes and the Burning Flames. A honeymoon trip was taken on the islands of Turks & Caicos.
The bride graduated from Norwalk High School. She received a bachelorâs degree in international affairs and Spanish from James Madison University. She is a business development manager at Main Street Bank.
The groom graduated from Darien High School. He received a bachelorâs degree in financial planning from Purdue University. He is a personal trainer at Achieve Rehab & Fitness.
