Collection For Canines Continues
Readers are reminded that a collection box has been set up in the lobby of The Newtown Bee’s office, at 5 Church Hill Road, to collect items for Newtown’s Animal Control Facility.
The annual collection is done in honor of Adopt A Shelter Dog Month, and will benefit those who care for dogs still hoping to be adopted from the town’s animal control facility.
The following items are needed by the shelter: Nutro Max mini chunk dog food, Iams dry dog food, freeze-dried liver treats, tooth paste (poultry flavor), pig’s ears, large rubber Kong toys, Air Kongs, large rope toys, Frisbees, squeak toys, tennis balls, choke chain collars, and sturdy slide leads.
The shelter would also gladly accept pet store gift certificates and cleaning supplies such as bleach, ammonia, paper towels, laundry detergent. dryer sheets, towels, and large black garbage bags.
The box will remain in place until October 31. The Bee office is open Monday through Friday from 7:45 am until at least 6 pm (and other times by chance).
All items will be delivered by Bee employees to the animal control facility, located on Old Farm Road, in early November.
