On The Courts â Youth Basketball Highlights
Junior Boys
Heat 30, Bullets 24 â Spencer Brindley had 7 points to help the Heat. Colton Spasta had 3 assists and Ryan Errico had 2 steals. Nick Madden had 10 rebounds and John Myers grabbed 7. Kyle Gordon played well on defense. For the Bullets, Chris Devangy and Chris Carroll each dropped in 7 points. Austin Babycak had 6 steals and Kevin Shpunt grabbed 5 rebounds.
Huskies 57, Tar Heels 42 â Outstanding scoring for the Huskies by Pat Mullins with 32 points and Thomas Primavera canned 7, while Grant Ricketts had 10 assists. Nadimul Hague grabbed 5 rebounds and Dean Deamers had 5 steals. Jack Hoffman, Jack Lago, Mike Davenport and Jeff Peterson were tough throughout the game. Jake Feinstein dropped in 16 points for the Tar Heels, who had 6 assists from Matt Rahtelli. Andrew Tarantino played well.
Bricklayers 39, Knicks 33 â Jack Chamarpe scored 18 points for the Bricklayers. Leading the team defensively were Johan Muniz with 8 steals and Tom Bauer with 6 rebounds. Leading the Knicks offensively was Patric Riccidi with 26 points and Matt White with 6 assists. Daniel Bethke with 12 rebounds led the team defensively. Robbie Hughes and Mitchell Stewart had great games.
Trash Talkers 53, Warriors 48 â Jamie MacDonald dropped in 13 points and Max Hayes had 12 assists for the Trash Talkers. Jamie MacDonald also grabbed 15 rebounds and Nick Swenson had 7 steals. Max Hayes led the team with double-double in scoring and assists. Jamie Macdonald had a double-double in rebounds and points. Eric Fiore had 22 points, Brandon Cooper had 13 points and Ryan Pisani added 4 assists to lead the Warriors offensively. Eric Pisani grabbed 4 rebounds, Otto Kerler and Bryan Arnold had big steals and Hickey hit big shots.
Gators 34, Celtics 33 â Pat Thornberg and Steve Conway each put in 10 points and Jordan Sock had three assists. Alec Beauchemin had 2 steals and Austin Hubbert pulled down 8 rebounds.. Matt Lindell of the Celtics dropped in 17 points and Collin Hull added 6 points. Andrew Ryan grabbed 8 rebounds and Greg LeDestro played well defensively.
Running Rebels 32, Nets 16 â Leading the Running Rebels offensively were Christian Mater with 11 points, Michael Senf with 7 points and Drew Sullivan with 4 assists. Kyle Buckley had 5 steals and Drew Sullivan pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the team defensively. Riley Cross had 6 points, Doug Miller 4, Jacob Moore 9, Dominic Scarangella had 4 steals and 4 rebounds. For the Nets, Angel Santos dropped in 11 points and David Cartisano added key assists. Angel Shantos compiled 15 rebounds, Justin Adsitt-Weiner added 3 steals and Marcelino Hernandez led the team defensively.
Wildcats 45, Nighhawks 45 â Wyatt Dupuy dropped in 10 points and Justin Cherry added 9 points for the Wildcats. Andrew Martinez hit a 3 pointer to tie the game as overtime expired. Mike Scharfenberg scored 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Brock Chimileski and Nicolas Norberg each popped in 9 points. Miles Lobuglio led the team defensively and Sam Adams and Daniel Winn played well.
The Team 54, Grizzlies 37 â Chris Erikson had 15 points and Tommy Gleason scored 14 points to lead The Team offensively. Jack Kenney played great defense. Ty Runkle and JP Kitsmiller each dropped in 10 points, and Garrison Buzzanca had 7 assists for the Grizzlies. Collin Moller had 7 blocks, Stefan Dullinger added 4 steals and Max Lopez had 7 rebounds.
Grade 5 Travel
Newtown Chuckers 37, Greenwich 36 â Devin Luzietti and Michael Doyle led the defensive effort. Matt Gerics and Ethan
Carpenter played well offensively. Jared Pearson did a fantastic job rebounding against the much taller Greemwich team, while Matt Elias played a solid overall game.
Newtown Chuckers 45, Bethel 26 â Newtown was led defensively by Matt Maturo and Alex Gerbo. Josh Houle and Matt Gerics did a great job offensively, while Jamie Cochrane played a great all around game.
Grade 6 In House
Screaming Eagles 25, Nets 21 â The Screaming Eagles were led by Jaret DeVellisâ 12 points and clutch free throw shooting down the stretch. Will Dalton and Ryan Sullivan helped run theoffense and had 4 points each. Rounding out the scoring for the Eagles were âSugarâ Shane Quimby, Chris âThe Animalâ Hartley, and Connor LeMay. Kyle Mangold, Christian Hoffman, and Bobby âQuickâ Silver led an outstanding defensive effort and Hartley, Quimby, LeMay, and Andy DeWolfe helped with rebounding. Ryan Szalay, with six points, led the shooting for the Nets. Nate Dowd had five assists. Keaton McCleary was the defensive star, while Bobby Archiere hauled down 9 boards.
Heat 32, Semi-Pros 16 â Colin Morrissey led a balanced scoring attack with 10 points. Matt Bouton pulled down 7 rebounds, while Andrew Pfeiffer and Will Swain combined for 6 steals. Colin Reilly contributed a strong overall game and had 5 assists. James Burdette, Mark Dowling and Harry DePuy combined for 12 points in defeat. Conrad Morris had 3 steals and Tommy Shaker had 5 rebounds.
 Junkyard Dogs 21, Celtics 20 â For the Junkyard Dogs, Joe Santella and Austin Huffman each poured in six points and Nick Rubino was dominant on the boards. For the Celtics, Albert âAirmailâ Dean was everywhere, playing great defense, grabbing multiple rebounds and adding a team-high 8 points. Andrew âEnd-to-Endâ Cragin also had a great hustle game, playing both sides of the floor well, but shined especially well as a defensive stopper with 2 blocks and 3 steals. Danny âThe Generalâ Colucci led the Câs offense from the point by taking down a couple of boards, dishing out 3 assists, while also contributing 5 points of his own.
 Dunkeys 30, Gators 27 â For the Dunkeys, Stephen Grasso led the scoring with 20 points. Alex Klang lead the team in rebounds and Wiley Zahansky and Connor Miller played strong defense. For the Gators, Bryce Decker scored 10 points. Adam Israel who scored 8 points, Jason Ferrari scored 4 points and Brian Raab scored 5 points. Robbie McCabe and Bryce Decker combined for 20 rebounds. Mitchell Goodin, Dan Hamula and Alec Clark played excellent defense.
Dragons 26, Wolves 23 â Dave Matthews led all scorers with 14 and Sean Kemsley scored what turned out to be a crucial basket. Robby Schreiber and Rory Phillips played tough defense while Colton Moroney and David Csordas pounded the boards all game for the Dragons. Michael Cirone led The Wolves scoring attack with 9 points. Jeremy Fellin handed out 3 assists and Kaj Djonne had 4 steals.
Grade 7 Travel
Stamford Storm 35, Newtown Bounce 19 â Newtownâs guards Kristie VosWinkel and Kerry Scallon (6 points, 4 steals, 2 assists) kept the pressure on the bigger Stamford guards all night. Newtownâs Emily Maher nailed a three pointer to spark a second-half run and Tess Murray had two steals as the visitors held Stamford to just 4 points in the fourth quarter.
Newtown Bounce 39, Weston 6 â Stifling team defense and crisp passing propelled Newtown. Danielle Shine led all scorers with 12 points and Kristie VosWinkel added 7 points. Amanda Crowell, Emily Maher and Kerry Scallon each chipped in 4 points. Hope McMorran, Tess Murray and Mary Joe Rossi kept Weston off balance with tenacious defense and Emily Grimes teamed with Jenny Indelicato to beat the road teamâs press.
