Neighboring Southbury Hosting Summer EMT Course
SOUTHBURY â The Southbury Ambulance Association for the first time will be offering a daytime summer EMT class, from July 11 to August 19. The association is offering this class primarily to give those age 16 and up, or prospective volunteers, a way to get a class accomplished without the demand of a daily school schedule.
This time schedule will also allow for anyone who works second and third shift jobs a chance to become an EMT.
This 145-hour course will prepare those who complete the program for the state practical examination and the National Registry of EMTs written examination, as well as to certify participants in CPR and the use of automatic external defibrillators (AEDs).
This course also includes ten clinical hours observing on actual ambulance calls, a textbook, stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, and test preparation exam assistance.
Certified EMTs work in private, municipal, and volunteer ambulance services, hospitals and fire departments. Space is limited; to reserve a seat call 203-262-8082, extension 100.
