Staff Sergeant Daniel West & Kimberly Solheim

Janis and Peter Solheim of Sandy Hook announce the engagement of their daughter, Kimberly Ryan Solheim, to Staff Sergeant Daniel Craig West, son of Cheryl and Gary West of Rutland, Vt.

Kimberly graduated from Newtown High School in 2006 and cum laude with honors with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics and a minor in leadership studies from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Va., in 2010.  She has a one-year Fellowship position in the Admissions Department at CNU and will begin her next career as a headquarters inventory deployment and alignment analyst for Ferguson Enterprises in Newport News. 

Daniel graduated from Rutland High School in 2003 and joined the United States Air Force in May 2004. He is a weapons specialist in the 94th AMU stationed at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Va. 

Daniel proposed shortly after his return from deployment in the United Arab Emirates.

The wedding will take place at St Rose of Lima Church in Newtown, in September.
