Blue Monkeys: Offensive players were Jackie Matthews and Shauna Tucker; defensive players were Jane Sherin and Virginia Hipp.
Sunflowers: Standout offensive players were Cecilio Floros and Carly Swierbut; on defense it was Karsen Pirone and Jenna Gonski
Grade 5
St Maryâs 36, Newtown Travel 17: Nikki Zaccaro and Megan Goyda had four points each, while Allie Indelcato contributed three points.
Newtown 31, St Maryâs 27: In a rematch, every player on the team contributed to the Newtown win. Megan Goyda led all scorers with 13 points and led all rebounders. Olivia Shaw, Meghan Doyle, and Jessica Maturo added four points apiece. Jillian Pieretti and Haley Conrad were impressive on defense and are credited with shutting down two of the leagueâs most talented guards. Colleen McCarthy, Nikki Zaccaro, and Shaw pitched in with key steals, assists, and rebounds to help seal the victory.
Newtown 24, Weston 4: Newtown improved to 8-1 on the season. Colleen McCarthy and Olivia Shaw played great defense, along with Haley Conrad who had three blocked shots. Megan Goyda had nine points and Allie Indelcato added six.

Da Bears 27, Funky Monkeys 9: High Scorers for DaBears were Izzi Pryor and Jessica Shairer (8 points each). The Funky Monkeys were supported by Chelsea Piccirillo (4), Hannah Logan (2 assists), Jillian Gibary (5 steals) and Ashleigh Shaw (4 rebounds).
56ers 24, Hawks 12: Abbie Kohler scored 10 points and Jessica Mullany had 5 assists. Defensive help came from Nicole Russo with 10 steals and Casidy Datin added 5 rebounds. Annie Hoffman also played well for the Hawks, and Kendra Dunnigan, Sarah Spilane, and Katie Lak all had strong defensive efforts.
Storm 24, Purple Wave 14: Maddy Pirone had 8 points, Lucy Helgren had 5 steals and Madeline Sieber had a 12 rebounds in the contest. For the Purple Wave, Kayla DiSibio had 6 points, Marissa Thill added 5 points. Kayla Sippin had 3 assits and Amanda Sulomer and Maddie Coul had 4 rebounds and 3 steals each.
Predators 21, Celtics 16: In a highly-contested game that went down to the final minute Emma Horne had 6 points for the Predators and Michaela Jackman had 7 points for the Celtics.

Newtown 31, Trumbull 37: Newtown played the defending champion Trumbull in their best performance of the season, but came up short. Casey Harkins dropped in eight while Alana Murray and Caitlin Linden added six a piece. Lindsey Hoyt forced three turnovers and Kelly Merrick had three rebounds. Maren Brady was the difference on defense, stopping the best player in the league time and again.
Newtown 33, Bethel 20: Lauren Wilcox led all scorers and Katie Reilly ripped down five rebounds in the victory. Katie Mossbarger controlled the flow of the game at point.
Newtown 25, Fairfield 18: Haley Ryan had six points and four assists to control the offense against a tough press. Reilly dropped a three-pointer to put the team ahead for good. Casey Harkins and Maren Brady forced four turnovers with aggressive defense. Lauren Wilcox had eight rebounds.
Bantams
Crazy Bananas 11, Jolly Ranchers 6: For the Bananas, Cory Mangold and Katie McCabe led the offense, while Abby Pearson and Chrissy Sgobbo were tough on defense. For the Ranchers, Shannon Cheh and Elizabeth Weisgerber were aggressive on the boards, while Heather Azzarito led the offense
H2O 10, Dark Sharks 8: For H2O, Sarah Houle led all scorers with assists by Ashley Santore. Rebecca Gavel and Larkin Huffman were stingy on defense. For the Sharks, Julia Haskins and Sarah Brittin led the offense, while Rachel Phillips and Maggie Alexander controlled the boards
Orange Crush 22, Hot Tamales 16: For the Crush, Haley Harkins and Madison Findley were strong in the front court, while Marcella Dailey and Sarah Lindell were aggressive on defense.

Grade 2
Huskies: The Huskies were led by solid offensive performances by Stephen Dooley, Quinn McAndrew, and Rohan Manusukhani. Kyle Griffin, Sachin Manusukhani, and Nathan Bellagamba played great team defense.
Celtics: Great all around games from Ethan Shaffer, Shaine Luzietti, Darren Huffman, and Kevin Gong.
Warriors: The team had great shooting from Justin Engler, Max Wrage, and Carter Tagliarini; great defense from Hunter Kirkman, and great overall game play from Patrick Grover
Striker: Offensive players of the week: Luke Azzarito and Mathew Bradbury. Defensive players of the week: Alexander Lloyd and Sean McKinley
Wolverines: Offensive players of the week: Jacob Riley and Attila Sepkin. Defensive players of the week: Sawyer Findley and William Swierbut
Orange Crush: Jack Street, Jared Dunn, and William Archiere led the offensive scoring attack, while Jack Stenz, James Tibolla, and Luke Hannan imposed their will on the defensive side for an overall impressive team effort.
Wildcats: Led by outstanding defensive efforts from Max Hanson, Josh Taylor, and Kyle Sullivan. Jack Kuligowski, Robert Hetzer, Ethan Braddock, and Kyle Good provided great passing to lead the offense.
Grade 3
Red Heat vs Golden Retrievers: Ryan Burns, Trevor Bottom, and Miles Martiska had a great offensive afternoon, with some great backdoor cuts for the Red Heat. The defense was led by Danny Schreiber, Carter McCleary, and Bobby Elston. Thomas Usher, Garratt Mandarano, and Matt Jaeger ran the offense well for the Retrievers. Nick Accousti rebounded and passed well, while, Griffin Estes played well defensively and Todd Petersen played all around complete game.
Mighty Squirrels vs Ghostbusters: The Mighty Squirrels had another good showing this weekend. James Schumacher, Jacob Clements, and Harvey Long were offensive machines. Reed Hammond, Alex Wong, and Harry Lucas provided end to end play with an emphasis on strong defensive skills. All players on the team had a good showing.
Slimers vs Magic: Ayden Kasbarian, Mark Leonardi, and Charlie Asetta provided the offensive spark for the Magic and the stingy defense was lead by Michael Annesley, Ty Dickinson, and Thomas Briscoe. Matthew Blanco, James Clifford, and Connor Hughes dominated a very balanced Slimers offensive attack, while Jonathan Nahmias, Jack Swanson, and Derrick Lewis were relentless on the defensive side of the ball.
Grade 4
Wildcats 20, Bullsharks 12: Marc Carlson had six points for the Wildcats, while Greg Brissette had four assists, Zach Demeglio had three steals, and Jake Pirone had six boards. Bullsharks were led by Timmy Shaw with six points. James Heran had four assists, Ryan Mailloux had three steals, and Ian Klepacki had six rebounds
Dark Knights 25, Thrill 25: For the Knights, Chris Daubert and Doug Carriero combined for 10 points and Cameron Champagne had five steals, Jack Carello had five assists and Owen Rahr had six rebounds. Joshua Dunn had 13 points for the Thrill. Ethan Aug had five assists. Wyatt Moyers and Grant Ian Shull played an outstanding defensive game.
Fire Dragons 20, Huskies 17: Jack Vaughan and Ryan Escoda each scored four points to lead the Dragons. Aidan Ford had three assists, while Robert Murray had seven boards and Christian Lestik had four steals. For the Huskies, Andrew Deluca had eight points. AJ Salaris had four assists, Owen Walsh led the defense and Thomas Fitzgerald had seven rebounds.
Grade 5
The Lightning 26, Blues Brothers 19: For the Lightning, Michael Liberante led the scoring with a game high 10 points. He was supported on offense by Kevin Arther, who had four points and four assists. R.H Clark and Steven Moccio were dominant on defense with five rebounds and six steals, respectively. Trailing 8-2 early in the first half, the Blues Brothers rallied to within one point 12-11 at halftime. Despite an early second half injury to the Blueâs leading scorer, Rob Lombardo, the lead stayed that way, 20-19 late into the fourth quarter led by Bradley Capeciâs star defensive play, especially with full court pressure in the fourth quarter and by the offensive player of the game Nicholas Lamettoâs strong presence. Will Huegi scored seven points and was one for four from the line. He also added three rebounds and a pair of steals. Peter Clifford had six points in the losing effort.
Green Monsters 28, Destiny 13: Henry Primavera and Matt Kuger led the offense with 10 and four points, respectively. Christopher Mok had seven steals and Austin DeSousa had 13 Rebounds, with Parker Johnson playing tough defense. For Destiny, Owen McInerney and Dlyan Kretz had six and four points, respectively; Thomas Leuci and Ryan Brello added strong defensive play.
March Madness 30, Dawgs 12: Scoring punch was provided by Connery Mayer with eight points, Chad Azzaritto with six, and Jordan Klein and Robert Hutchins with four points each. Outstanding rebounding and defense from Nick Venezia, Elliott Bennett, and Chris Anesi. The Dawgs Peter DeBona and Mitchell Long provided six and four points, while Tommy Kitzmiller, Jack Riley and Adam Beckett put up a great defense.
Blue Devils 23, Tigers 19: For the Blue Devils Matthew Krasnickas and Evan Kohlsaat ignited the offense with six and two points, respectively. Jack Palmero had seven rebounds and Justin Gillespie had two steals leading the defense. For the Tigers Austin Kasbarian and Bryce Griffen lead the offense with seven and six points, while Tyler LaCroce and Conor Brennan added strong defense play
Grade 6
Southbury 58, Newtown 48: Joe Duero and Andrew Svanda led the team with 10 points each. Dillon Palumbo scored six and Matt Gerics scored five. Ethan Carpenter played well on defense.
Shelton 58, Newtown 50: Jared Pearson drew lots of fouls and scored 17 points, while Josh Houle shot well from the outside with nine points. Joe Duero had another strong game, scoring eight points. Devon Luzietti played defense well, scoring five points, while Jamie Cochrane shut down Sheltonâs leading scorer.
Fairfield 42, Newtown Gold 39: This was a close game throughout, with neither team holding more than a five-point lead. Matt Elias led all scorers with 13 points. Mason Melillo had a strong game with 11 points, while Matt Maturo added six points. James Frazzetta scored a basket and passed unselfishly to set up his teammates. Alex Gerbo was strong on the boards.
Brookfield 44, Newtown Gold 40: Newtown stormed back from a 14-point deficit to take a two-point lead midway through the fourth quarter. However, they could not hold off a late Brookfield charge. Matt Maturo was game high scorer with 15 points. Ryan Shaw tallied 13 points and 11 rebounds. Kieran Lynch ran the team efficiently from the point, scoring five points, including a long three-pointer to tie the game in the fourth. Tim VanderHave added a basket and had several steals on the press.
Monroe 43, Newtown Gold 32: Although down by 23 at the half, Newtown did not give up and continued to chip away until the final buzzer. Ryan Shaw recorded a rare triple-double, with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 blocked shots. Mason Melillo added six points. Austin LeBlanc and Geoff Santore caused chaos on the press.
Thunder 51, Celtics 33: Bryan Kiley led the Thunder with 14 points with help from assists leader Christian Thanasoulis, who had eight assists. John Cagganello created a lot of disruption on the defensive end of the court with five steals. Patrick Briscoe and Spencer Johnson each had six rebounds. For the Celtics it was Jack Procaccini leading the scoring with 11 points. Matt Campbell and Max Weber each provided four assists on offense. Matt St. Jean sparked the defense with his speed and ability to turn the ball over with steals. James Barry and Jeremy Salaris lead the team in rebounds with five each.
Wolfpack 34, Magic 25: Sam Czel scored seven points to lead the Wolfpack scoring, getting assistance from Nick Rohrbacher who had six assists. Jimmy Craig lead the defensive charge for the Wolfpack with help from the âTwin Towersâ James Buck and Boris Kudlac, who dominated the boards on both ends of the court. Maxim Donaher and Matt Davis led the Magic with six points each. Hunter Booker led the team in assists with five. Nick Genovese led the defense for the Magic with four steals. Timothy LeBlanc and Lucas Ladestro each grabbed five rebounds to lead the team in rebounding.
Huskies 26, Hurricanes 24: Gordon Walsh led the Huskiesâ scoring with 12 points in yet another close game. Declan Sullivan and Nick Bourgeois each had four assists. Adam Weber lead the defense with four steals, while Matt Stewart and Holden Turk battled under the boards to pull down key rebounds. The Hurricanes scoring was led by Colin Patrick with eight points. Dylan Solano lead his team in assists with five. James Accousti lead the defense with five steals, while Sam Duffy and David Anderson grabbed seven and five rebounds, respectively.
Grades 7â8
X-Men 46, Jazz 23: Bobby Archiere and Ryan Rosenberger combined for 27 points for the X-Men. The defense was led by Keaton McCleary, Tommy Shaker, and Tom Floros. For the Jazz Harry Depuy led the offense with nine points. Austin Raftery controlled the boards with seven rebounds.
Hammerheads 39, Celtics 33: Will Dalton led the offense for the Hammerheads with 14 point, followed by Ryan Szalay with 10. Andy DeWolfe and Spencer Brindley controlled the defense. For the Celtics Tim Kelly had eight points and John Sherman had a solid game.
Heat 43, Runnin Rebels 22: Jeff Peterson led the offense for the Heat with 17 points. Matt White had eight assists. For the Runnin Rebels, Shane Quimby had eight points while Chris Hartley had eight rebounds.
Nuggetts 46, Magic 36: Brendan Peterson paced the Nuggetts offense with 16 points. Andrew Cragin, Danny Winn, and Griffin Davis played solid defense. Riley Cross paced the Magic offense with 19 points, with Garrison Buzzanca adding seven points. Mitchell Stewart and John Enron played solid defense.
Cavs 52, Wildcats 16: The Cavs were led by Nick Norberg with 15 points with Drew Tarentino adding 14. Matt Wood and Graham Hubert played good defense. The wildcats were led by Patrick Rowley with 10 points. Austin Babyak and Mitchel Godin played solid defense.
Wolfpack 42, Vipers 39: Virgil Proccacini led the offense for the Wolfpack with 21 points. Ben Payne added seven points and Jason Farrari played tight defense. For the Vipers, Shay DeMarche and Peter Manfredonia combined for 30 points.
Eagles 51, Wizards 42: For the Eagles, Julian Dunn dominated the offense with 27 points. Cal Brock and Sean Kelmsley controlled the defense. For the Wizards, Nick Swenson had 28 points. Adam Isreal, Brian Armold and Don Sun played good defense.
Bricklayers 43, Thunder 33: For the Bricklayers, Conner Miller and Jaret DeVillis combined for 20 points. The defense was led by Kaustav Mitra and Brenton Scott. Grant Ricketts led the offense for the Thunder with nine points. Tight defense was played by Wiley Zahansky, Nick Lotrechiano, and Ryan Wagner.
Wizards 52, Huskies 37: Nick Swenson led the offense for the Wizards with 22 points. Nate Dowd, Michael Unschuld, and Deegan Beauchemin played tight defense. The Huskies were led by Chris Carroll with 15 points with the defense being controlled by Bryce Decker.
Cavs 45, Runnin Rebels 32: Nick Norberg led the offense for the Cavs with 11 points. Matt Wood and Tommy Catalina paced the defense. Jimmy Leidlein led the rebels with 12 points, while Shane Quimby and Mason Galanis led the defense.
Hammerheads 39, Huskies 27: Spencer Brindley and Will Dalton led the Hammerheads with eight points each. Good defense was plalyed by Andy DeWolfe and Jordan Salvesen. For the Huskies, Austin Huffman paced the offense with six points with the defense being led by Ty Runkle and Nadimul Haque.
Vipers 41, Wildcats 30: The Vipers were paced by Shay DeMarche with 16 points and Ryan Whitton on defense. The Wildcats were led by Kyle Mangold with six points. The defense was controlled by Bobby Silver and Austin Babyak.
Eagles 50, Bricklayers 32: Jullian Dunn led the offense for the Eagles with 19 points. Ryan Sullivan, Cal Brock, and Dave Corsi played tight defense. For the Bricklayers, Pat Afriyie and Conner Miller combined for 21 points. The defense was led by Nate Steinbrey.
