Terence J. McGuinness

1981 Newtown 

Outstanding Young Man Of The Year

Terence J. McGuinness, of Belfast, Northern Ireland, died January 25. Born on December 13, 1945, he was the son of Mary [McFarlane] McGuinness of Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Terence McGuinness.

Mr McGuinness graduated from St Mary’s, Yonkers N.Y., Manhattan Prep, and Manhattan College in Riverdale, N.Y.

He was a longtime resident of Newtown. He was a past president of the Newtown Jaycees as well as a recipient of the Max Grunberg award. He received the Statesman Award from the Connecticut Jaycees. Mr McGuinness was also named the Outstanding Young Man of the Year in Newtown in 1981.

He was a former member of Rock Ridge Country Club, an avid golfer and tennis player.

His daughter, Shannon of Brookfield; son, Terence of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; brothers, Sean of Peekskill, N.Y., Michael of White Plains, N.Y., and James of Tarrytown, N.Y.; as well as several nieces survive Mr McGuinness. He was predeceased by his brother, Patrick, in March 2005.

Interment will take place on Saturday, February 18, at 11 am, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, N.Y.
