Dr Kunjath âKâ Ramachandran, a resident of Newtown since 1970, died on March 1.
He was born in Kerala, India, on April 29, 1930. He is a graduate of Trivandrum Medical College, Kerala, India. After working in England from 1967 to 1970 as a psychiatrist, he migrated to the United States and settled in Newtown. He was a psychiatrist at the former Fairfield Hills Hospital, and retired as the clinical director of psychiatry. He was also a consultant psychiatrist at Danbury Hospital.
Dr Ramachandran was a lifelong student of philosophy and the author of a book, The Bhagavad Gita From a Different Perspective.
He is survived by his wife Ammini Ramachandran, four children, and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were on Sunday, March 4, at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home in Monroe.
