The 2016 Newtown Historical Society House and Garden Tour will be presented Sunday, June 26, rain or shine from 11 am until 5 pm.

This year's tour - which will mark the 20th time the historical society will be offering the popular event - will feature five unique homes and gardens in Newtown and Sandy Hook. The properties include one of the oldest homes in Newtown with timber frame construction and original herb garden, as well as a charming colonial farmhouse nestled among the trees. A 1790s farmhouse with center chimney combines hints of decorated whimsy among nods to bygone eras.

Two more homes include a 1930s Cape Cod-style house furnished with antiques and vintage goods on three acres of extensive gardens, and a 1767 Connecticut country house that captures all that a country home should be.

Tickets are $25 for adults if purchased in advance, and will be $30 the day of the tour. Children's tickets (for ages 8-12) are $10 and $15, respectively.

Advance tickets can be purchased at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street; The UPS Store, 261 Main Street South; and The Toy Tree, 14 Church Hill Road; and online at newtownhistory.org.

On June 26, tickets will only be available from 10 am until 2 pm in front of The Matthew Curtiss House, 44 Main Street.

For additional information, call 203-426-5937, visit the historical society's website, or find the historical society on Facebook.
