Burglary/Larceny
Sometime between 4 pm on November 18, and 6 am on November 19, someone entered the Tilcon Connecticut, Inc, facility at 9 Button Shop Road by cutting a chain on a gate, after which they stole some metal supplies from the property, police report.
Police ask anyone with information on the incident to contact Officer Felicia Figol at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.
DUI Case
Police report that they saw motorist Kerry Perran, 44, of 4 Appleblossom Lane driving a vehicle westward on Wasserman Way that was crossing over the roadâs center lines at about 6:14 pm on November 25, so they stopped Perran to investigate.
Police said they charged Perran with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right.
After processing, police released Perran on $200 bail for a December 9 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Three Violations
Police said they spotted motorist Yvonne Vanderveen-Pierce, 50, of New Milford driving a vehicle without wearing her seatbelt at about 1 pm on November 28 at the Exit 11 on-ramp for Interstate 84, so they stopped her to investigate.
Police said their investigation indicated that the woman was required to have an ignition interlock device on her vehicle, but that device had been removed from the auto. Police charged Vanderveen-Pierce with avoidance of an ignition interlock device, failure to wear a seatbelt, and driving with a suspended license.
Police released Vanderveen-Pierce on a written promise to appear in court on December 14.
Two Charges
After stopping motorist Faye Giannaras, 35, of Danbury about 5 pm November 26 near 2 Elm Drive, police conducted an investigation.
Police charged Giannaras with driving with a suspended registration and with driving without automotive insurance.
Giannaras was released on a written promise to appear in court on December 9.
Larceny
According to police, Robert Besse, 66, of 9 Appleblossom Lane was detected shoplifting a pack of tobacco in Newtown Convenience Store at 22 Church Hill Road at about 6 am on November 28.
Police said they charged Besse with sixth-degree larceny. Besse was released on a written promise to appear on December 14 in Danbury Superior Court.
Botsford Collision
A two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of South Main Street, Meadowbrook Road, and Botsford Hill Road about 10:09 am November 24.
Motorist Barbara Lewis, 59, of Monroe was driving a 2000 Oldsmobile sedan southward on South Main Street, as motorist James Dushay, 18, of 29 Mountainside Drive was driving a 2000 Pontiac sedan eastward on Meadowbrook Road, police said.
The Pontiac then attempted to make a right turn from eastbound Meadowbrook Road onto southbound South Main Street, but collided with the Oldsmobile, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Dushay a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
South Main Street
About 9:48 am on November 27, motorist Jeanette Hubley-Lasher, 49, of 68 Dodgingtown Road was driving a 2008 Mercedes-Benz convertible northward on South Main Street and then slowed in order to make a turn into the driveway at 137 South Main Street, police said.
Northbound motorist Robert Ward, 46, of 3 Patricia Lane, who was driving a 2000 Ford pickup truck, then struck the Mercedes from behind, police said.
There were no injuries. Ward received a written warning for following too closely, police said.
DUI Arrest
Police report that a motorist under age 18, who was driving a 2006 Honda SUV northward on Brushy Hill Road about 500 feet north of its intersection with Bonnie Brae Drive, at about 11 pm on November 19, inadvertently drove off the right road shoulder and collided with a utility pole.
The motorist not injured. Police charged the person with driving under the influence and making a restricted turn.
Police released the youth on $95 bail for a December 6 court appearance. State law shields the identity of people under 18 who are charged with drunken driving.
Rear-End Crash
About 5:14 pm November 29, motorist Patricia Dillon, 51, of Middlebury, who was driving a 2007 Honda SUV eastward near 117 Mt Pleasant Road, slowed for traffic conditions, after which eastbound motorist Aldina Latimer, 36, of Naugatuck, who was driving a 2004 Lexus SUV, attempted to avoid a collision, but struck the rear end of the Honda, police said.
Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps members transported Dillon to Danbury Hospital to be evaluated for a possible neck injury, police said. Hawleyville firefighters went to the accident.
Police issued Latimer an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Sedan Vs Building
About 4:46 pm on November 26, motorist Barbara Combs, 73, of 11 John Beach Road, who was driving a 2006 Volkswagen sedan, attempted to pull into a parking space in front of a retail building at 274 South Main Street and then inadvertently pressed the accelerator pedal instead of the brake pedal, striking the building, police said.
Both the building and vehicle were damaged by the impact, police said. Combs was not injured.
Botsford firefighters responded to the incident. Police said they verbally warned Combs for unsafe movement.
