Textiles & Jewelry Show & Sale Returning April 5-6

DANBURY — Spring is the time for a new fashion season but for many people, new can mean used and recycled and vintage. The Vintage Clothing, Accessories, Textiles and Jewelry Show and Sale will return for the second year to the Police Athletic League Building, 25 Hayestown Road. The show will run Saturday and Sunday, April 5 and 6, and will be open both days from 10 am until 5 pm.

Admission is $6 (under 13 free). One admission is good for return visits. Food will be provided by Riverfront Deli of Valhalla, N.Y.

There will more than thirty booths brimming with yesterday’s styles, now today’s latest fashion. Men and women of all ages will find one-of-a-kind items to make them stand out in a crowd.

Dealers attending will offer nothing newer than the 1980s. A sampling includes What Was is Vintage, Merrick, N.Y., who plans to present a booth of antique costume jewelry, Bakelite, vintage clothing and accessories such as hats, handbags, eyewear, shoes, coats, jackets, dresses, sweaters, men’s hats, ties and cufflinks.

Cherished Treasures from Newtown will bring clothes from the 1940s to 60s, vintage buttons, sewing items and fabric, and vintage hankies.

Also attending will be Funky Fashions from Brick, N.J.; The Town Peddler, New Rochelle, N.Y.; and Vintage Couture Jewelry offering clothing, scarves, chain belts, purses, couture shoes and hats from Easton. Margot Hotchkiss Designs, New York City, will add vintage textiles and linens; Vintage With a Twist, Bedford, N.Y., and Grape in the Shade of Washington Depot, Conn., will help make fashion statements with designer dresses, gowns and elegant hats.

Queen Ann’s Laces from Prospect, will bring fine linens, lace, compacts as part of their vintage display; On Que, LLC of Danbury,  specializes in costume jewelry and Rhiannon’s Treasures, New Milford, will bring clothing dating back to the Victorian era plus vintage fabric and trims.

Fine antique jewelry dealers include JFS Associates of Harrisburg, Penn.; Fine Arts Ltd., Greenwich, Michael Weinstein/Artifacts, Binghamton, N.Y., Joyce’s Jems of Ardsley, N.Y., will specialize in textiles and trims as well as buttons, purses, linens and smalls.

Antique Wardrobe, Southbridge, Mass., will offer wearables from the Victorian era to the 1950s; Jewels Unlimited/Unique Teasures, Walden, N.Y., will bring Taxco, Hobe and European vintage silver, hats and bags; Barbara Lambert, from Weston, will bring hats, jewelry and vintage garb; and Kreativebeadz, Danbury, will bring vintage costume jewelry as will A Blast From the Past of Hamden.

Three Vintage Babes, LLC., New Vernon, N.J., will display vintage costume jewelry and add fur stoles to the mix. Scout of New York City will also be in attendance as will Sally Wistman of Danbury, who will be offering textiles, vintage clothing, laces, paisleys, tassels and a wonderful early textile screen.
