Joseph Albert Oropal, 63, of the Black Rock section of Bridgeport, died at St Vincentâs Medical Center, November 10, surrounded by his loving family, following a brief battle with cancer. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., Mr Oropal had been a Fairfield County resident for many years.
Survivors include his beloved mother, Evelyn Oropal of Newtown; two sisters, Linda M. Hayduk of Great Neck, N.Y., and Cheryl Lynne Oropal of Southbury; his treasured life partner, Karen Anthony of Black Rock; three children, Jamie Auborn of Oregon, Joseph Oropal of South Carolina, and Ashley Oropal of Woodbury; his extended family includes Laurie Schaper and her son of Fairfield, Corinne Ganim and her five children of Black Rock, and Michelle Dalling and her three daughters of Orange. He was the loving grandfather of Joshua Oropal; and is also survived by his aunt and uncle, Rita and Salvatore Monti of South Hempstead, N.Y.; and his many lifelong friends.
He was currently employed by Westchester BMW and was recently awarded the National Top Salesman of the Year Award by the BMW Motor Corporation. He loved his frequent trips to the beach and time spent with his family and friends.
A Memorial Mass was held November 13 in St Thomas Aquinas Church, Fairfield, with the Reverend Victor Martin officiating. Interment was private.
