Adopt A Dog From The Pound

The following dogs are among those available for adoption from the Newtown pound, which is located at the end of Ethan Allen Road:

HANNAH is a beautiful black/tan female Shepherd mix. She is approximately 60 pounds, and about 1 1/2 years old. She’s a southern gal, from Tennessee, and full of life.

ELVIS & PRISCILLA were found wandering in the woods together. Someone obviously loved these two Rottie-mixes, because they are polite, friendly, and great on a leash. They like other dogs though, as Priscilla is getting older, she would love a quiet home without a young pup to bother her. Pound officials don’t know how these dogs are with cats but believe they could learn to get along with just about anyone — even a bossy feline. While Priscilla is a lovely older gal, Elvis has the kind of face only a mother can love. Pound officials are not sure what he’s mixed with, but once you get to know this gentleman you’ll quickly get past his funny face. These two may be adopted separately or together.

If you wish to adopt, please call Newtown Animal Control at 203-426-6900 or Canine Advocates at 203-426-5327. Canine Advocates of Newtown, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit volunteer group, raises funds to spay/neuter and provide shots against DHLPP and rabies for all of the Newtown Pound cats and dogs. CAN also provides a free training DVD and Beyond Obedience Dog Training offers one free individual training lesson to adopters.
