Fraser Woods Montessori School students rehearsed on Friday, March 6, just hours before they would present Twelfth Night before parents and friends that night.

The performance, according to head of humanities and dean of the Middle School Wendy Musk, is the culmination of a course she teaches her middle school students on Shakespeare.

Ms Musk further explained her vision for creating The Shakespeare Repertory Theater At Fraser Woods Montessori School was to have an multi-age, all-inclusive repertory collaborative experience for the students that would be inspired by “a love of language, a playful spirit of inquiry, and a celebration of community.”

“The [Fraser Woods Montessori] Shakespeare Repertory has evolved from dramatic readings in the humanities classroom to fully staged productions complete with student-run costume, lighting, and crew,” Ms Musk said. “Our schoolwide Shakespeare immersion program begins in the elementary school and continues through middle school with students taking on increasingly more responsibility each year.”

Twelfth Night, written by William Shakespeare, is a love story with many follies from the start.

After the Friday evening performance of the play, Ms Musk said it was a wonderful evening with a packed house.

Fraser Woods Montessori School seventh grade student Mikayla Labissiere, center, sang during a rehearsal on Friday, March 6, for Fraser Woods Montessori School’s Shakespeare Repertory Theater’s production of Twelfth Night.
