Shelton Man
Police arrested a Shelton man on a warrant on August 2, charging him with failure to appear in court, driving while under suspension, and following too closely.
Police arrested Benjamin Gonzalez, 44. The motor vehicle charges stem from a 2005 motor vehicle accident along South Main Street, in which Gonzalez was involved, police report.
Gonzalez was scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on August 2.
Golf Course Damaged
Police report an incident of vandalism at the Rock Ridge Country Club at 214 Sugar Street (Route 302).
Sometime between 6 pm July 30, and 5:45 am July 31, someone tore up some sod on a golf green and stole a yellow golf course pin marker, police said.
Also, the vandal or vandals wrote the initials âEUâ and âE12â in a sand bunker.
Police are investigating the case of second-degree criminal mischief, sixth-degree larceny, and simple trespassing. They ask anyone with information on the identity of the criminals involved to contact them 426-5841, or at 270-8888. Officers Felicia Figol and John McCluskey are investigating the incident.
Motorcycle Accident
Police report an accident on Main Street involving a motorcycle and a van.
Motorist Michael Fitzgerald, 38, of Oxford was driving a 2003 Ford Econoline van southward near 39 Main Street about 2:16 pm August 1, when he stopped for traffic conditions, police said.
Motorcyclist Jason Hogenauer, 19, of 6 Georges Hill Road, who was driving a 2006 Honda southward, then drove into the rear end of the van, police said.
There were no injuries. Police gave Hogenauer received a written warning for following too closely. Â
Youths in Trouble
Police arrested three youths under age 16 on the evening of August 4 for illegal activity in the area of Taunton Hill Road and Taunton Lake Road.
Police said they arrested each member of the trio on a charge of breach of peace for shooting at passing vehicles with a BB gun. No reports of damage were received in connection with the incident, police said.
Police released each of the three youths to their parents. The children are scheduled to be arraigned on the charges on August 20 in Danbury Juvenile Court. Under the law, âjuvenilesâ are offenders under age 16. State law shields the identities of those under age 18 who are arrested on criminal charges.
Keys Found
On July 31, a key ring containing a Nissan automotive key, with a remote control device, plus a house key was found lying near intersection of New Lebbon Road and High Bridge Road, police report.
The owner should contact Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station at 426-5841 to claim the found keys.
Motorcycle Crash
On the evening of August 4, motorcyclist Robert Berube, 38, of 55 Sugar Street was driving a 1986 Honda Shadow VT-700C westward on Sugar Street (Route 302) when he decided to test whether the motorcycleâs brakes were working properly, police report.
Berube attempted to make a âpanic stopâ in which both front and rear brakes are simultaneously applied with force, police said.
As a result, Berube lost control of the motorcycle and flipped over, landing on the ground, police said. After he made his way to his home, he called for help, police said.
Berube received various injuries in the accident and was transported by ambulance volunteers to Danbury Hospital, where he was treated and then released, police said. Hook & Ladder firefighters went to the accident. Police verbally warned Berube for making a restricted turn.
Hit-and-Run Arrest
Police arrested Gary Jackman, 44, of 4 Pine Street on a warrant on August 3, charging him with evading responsibility and with interfering with police in connection with an April 12 hit-and-run accident near the intersection of Route 34 and Pole Bridge Road in Sandy Hook.
In that April incident, Jackman allegedly struck the rear end of a sport-utility vehicle and then drove away from the scene. Two people who were in the SUV were transported for hospital medical treatment, according to police.
Police released Jackman from custody on $100 bail. Jackman is scheduled for court arraignment on August 17.

Interstate Crash
While driving a 2006 Subaru Impreza westward on Interstate 84, near the Tunnel Road overpass, about 10:30 pm August 5, motorist Becky Waters, 27, of Danbury was struck by a 1999 Dodge Ram driven by Scott Mill, 39, of Wingdale, N.Y., state police said. Â
 The Dodge hit the Subaru when the Dodge was changing lanes, according to state police. The impact caused the Subaru to spin around and enter the median where it collided with metal-beam guardrailing and burst into flames, state police said. The impact and fire destroyed the Subaru.
Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps members transported Waters to Danbury Hospital for treatment of back and neck injuries, state police said. The Dodge carried three passengers. Hook & Ladder firefighters went to the accident.
State police lodged four motor vehicle charges against Mill.
Acura Accident
Motorist Anthony Martinez, 28, of 4 Valley View Road was driving a 1997 Acura Integra eastward on Interstate 84, west of Exit 10, about 11:30 am August 3, when he swerved toward the right road shoulder to avoid contact with another vehicle and then struck some guard cabling, state police report.
Martinez was not injured. State police took no enforcement.
Woman Charged
Police said they stopped motorist Noreen Vorvis, 55, of Brookfield on South Main Street on the night of August 2, because they noticed that she had an expired vehicle registration sticker affixed to her rear marker plate.
After investigating, police charged Vorvis with improper display of a marker plate/registration sticker and with driving with a suspended driverâs license.
After processing, police released Vorvis from custody on a written promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court on August 16.
Electronics Theft
Police are investigating a theft that occurred when someone entered a parked vehicle on Reservoir Road sometime between 10 pm on July 20 and 2 am on July 21.
The thief stole a Hewlett-Packard laptop computer, a Canon Elph digital camera, and an Apple I-Pod video/music player, police said.
The crime constitutes third-degree larceny, meaning that goods worth between $1,000 and $5,000. It is a felony.

Debris Dumping
Sometime between July 13 and July 27, someone dumped a large amount of construction debris in a driveway at 61 Peckâs Lane. The crimes involved are illegal dumping and third-degree criminal trespassing. Police ask anyone with information on the matter to contact them at 426-5841 or at 270-8888.
Camera Found
Police are holding for safekeeping a Nikon Coolpix digital camera that was found on Jeremiah Road in Sandy Hook on July 14. The camera was in a black leather case.
The camera contained family pictures of a trip to one of the many Yogi Bear Jellystone Park Camp-Resort campgrounds, police said.
The owner may claim the camera at the police station at 3 Main Street.
Eyeglasses
On August 2, police received for safekeeping a pair of purple-framed eyeglasses that were found at Dickinson Park on Elm Drive. The owner should contact Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station, telephone 426-5841, to claim the eyeglasses.
Sideswiped
Midday on July 30, motorist Charlotte Abraham, 37, of Danbury was driving a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country minivan westward on Wasserman Way, near its intersection with Mile Hill Road South, police report.
At that time, motorist Jason Chase, 28, of Milford was driving a 1994 Ford Explorer eastward there, police said. The Chrysler entered the opposite lane and collided with the Ford, according to police.
Both drivers received medical treatment at the scene from ambulance corps volunteers. Hook & Ladder firefighters went to the accident.
Abraham received an infraction ticket for failure to drive to the right, police report.
Two Keys
Police report that on July 28, they received for safekeeping a black hook-style key ring that contains two keys. The keys were found at the busy intersection of South Main Street and Mile Hill Road. The owner may claim the item by contacting police Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station.
Pontiac Crash
Police report a one-vehicle accident near 6 Mile Hill Road about 11 pm August 3.
Motorist Almando Morales, 21, of Bridgeport was driving a 1996 Pontiac coupe westward on Mile Hill Road, when he entered the eastbound lane and then drove off the eastbound road shoulder, smashing into guard cabling and then landing in a ditch, police said.
Morales received minor injuries and was transported to Danbury Hospital by ambulance volunteers for medical treatment, police said. Hook & Ladder firefighters went to the accident. Police are investigating.
Speeding/Suspension
 About 4:25 pm August 7, police detected motorist Alicia Molina, 36, of Monroe driving 60 miles per hour in a 25-mph zone on High Bridge Road.
Police stopped Molina to investigate and charged her with speeding and with driving with a suspended license.
After processing, police released Molina from custody on a written promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court for arraignment on the charges on August 21.
Treadwell Crash
Motorist Dayna Djonne, 17, of 1 River Edge Drive was driving a 2002 Jeep Wrangler in the Treadwell Park parking lot about 4:30 pm August 4, police said.
Djonne told police that an object flew into her eye, after which she lost control of the compact sport-utility vehicle and drove into some wooden fencing.
Djonne was not injured. Police verbally warned her for making a restricted turn.
Fraudulent Purchase
Police reported this week that on June 30, an unknown person made a fraudulent purchase at the annual Friends of Booth Libraryâs used book sale, which was held at Reed Intermediate School at Fairfield Hills.
The crimes committed were issuing a bad check and fifth-degree larceny, which involves more than a $250 loss.
The buyer issued a fraudulent check which had false name, address, routing, and account information on it, police said.

Church Hill Collision
While traveling eastward on Church Hill Road about 4:45 pm August 5, motorist Michael Barbour, 19, of 11 Schoolhouse Hill Road, who was driving a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck, slowed to make a left turn into the driveway at 47 Church Hill Road, police report.
Eastbound motorist Gabrielle Nastri, 17, of 2 Jo-Mar Drive, who was driving a 2004 Jeep Liberty, then struck the Dodge from behind, police said.
There were no injuries. Nastri received a written warning for following too closely.
Warrant
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Kevin Szekeres, 27, of Terryville came to the police station on the evening of August 7 and was charged with possession of narcotics (cocaine) in connection with an incident that occurred on June 19 in the commuter parking lot on Wasserman Way, near Exit 11 of Interstate 84, police said.
Police released Szekeres on a written promise to appear August 21 at Danbury Superior Court.
