Kevin McCarthy, Sr, 44, of 28 Bonnie Brae Drive, Newtown, died unexpectedly May 18 at his home.

He was born in Bridgeport, April 30, 1959, son of Marianne (Grimardi) Muskus of Newtown, and the late John J. McCarthy.

Mr McCarthy was a graduate of Newtown High School. From 1980 to 1993, he served in the US Navy, as a boatswain mate, second class, on the USS William Stanley and the USS Carr. He also served on a tugboat operating out of New London harbor. He was last employed at Greentree Toyota.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his former wife, Eve (Day) McCarthy, of Sandy Hook; two sons, Kevin McCarthy, Jr, and Kyle R. McCarthy, both of Sandy Hook; two brothers, Stuart P. McCarthy, Sr, of Newberg, N.Y.; and John J. McCarthy of Chicago; and one nephew, Stuart P. McCarthy, Jr.

Funeral services were held from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, on May 21 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown. Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery.
