Athletes Earn Postseason Honors

Newtown High School was well-represented in the All State and All South-West Conference selections for spring sports. All State First Team honorees were softball player Emily Woznick, baseball players Julian Dunn and David Matthews, and golfer Sarah Houle. Others to be honored with All State achievement are Julia Sughrue and Deegan Beauchemin.

All SWC Selections

Softball — First Team: Woznick, Mikayla Kuligowski, and Katie Laaksonen; Colonial Division: Sara Kennedy, Megan Goyda, Haley Ryan, Lauren Wilcox, Gillian Galante, and Jill Lasorsa; Honorable Mention: Kamdynn Moroney and Mackenzie Macchiarulo.

Baseball — First Team: Dunn and Matthews; Colonial Division: Michael Parker and Charlie Huegi; Honorable Mention: Jason Hebner.

Girls’ Golf — First Team: Houle and Molly Wilson.

Boys’ Golf — First Team: Josh Houle and Graham Hubbert; Colonial Division: Colin Patrick.

Girls’ Lacrosse — Division I: Sughrue.

Boys’ Lacrosse — First Team: Matt Meyers, Beauchemin, CJ Dunn, Nick Rubino, Joey Santella, Matt Boutin, and Mark Urso; Division I: Bubba Condon and Jared Pearson.

Girls’ Track And Field — First Team: Makenna Cerney and Micaela Nowacki; Second Team: Erin Tressler, Hailey Conrad, Emma Bayuk, Lauren Russo, and Cameron Vazquez; Honorable Mention: Camryn Cicarelli, Jess Keller, and Annika Alexander.

Boys’ Track And Field — Honorable Mention: Cole Terry, Joel Duval, Christopher Gamble, Gustavo Porto, and Jack Godfrey.

Girls’ Tennis — First Team: Lauren Beier, Aimee Alexander, Emily McCoy, and Lindsay O’Donnell; Honorable Mention: Julia Doyle, Lily Mittleman, Alisha Aggarwal, and Amanda Berry.

Boys’ Tennis — First Team: Joey Conrod and Matt Carino; Second Team: Keaton McCleary, Kunal Marwah, and James Frazetta; Honorable Mention: Peter Winans, Michael Dutsar, Justin Oelberg, Jordan Klein, and Grant Larson.

Boys’ Volleyball — First Team: Jeremy Doski; Second Team: Andy Braun.

Jared Pearson, among Newtown's leading scorers, earned All SWC Division I honors.
First baseman Megan Goyda was one of the softball team's leading hitters and an All South-West Conference selection.
