O’Neil Reelected As P&Z Chairman

Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) members have reelected to one-year terms the panel’s three officers.

In voting on January 5, P&Z members reelected Republican William O’Neil as chairman, Republican Sten Wilson as vice chairman, and Democrat Lilla Dean as secretary.

Mr O’Neil has been the P&Z chairman since August 2002, when he replaced former P&Z member Daniel Fogliano in the leadership position.

The P&Z has eight members, five of whom are regular members and three of whom are alternate members. Alternate members vote in the absence of regular members.

Currently, three of the regular members are Republicans and two are Democrats. Also, two of the alternate members are Republicans and one is a Democrat. Therefore, the Republicans hold a 5-to-3 overall advantage over the Democrats on the commission.

P&Z membership is an elected office. Regular members serve four-year terms and alternate members serve two-year terms.
