Arrests Made in Construction Site Vandalism
Police have arrested two 17-year-old boys in connection with January vandalism in which they allegedly did more than $26,000 worth of damage at a construction site on South Main Street.
After learning that police held warrants for their arrests, the unidentified boys on April 1 and April 2 separately went to the police station and were charged. Police charged one youth with two counts each of first-degree criminal mischief and third-degree criminal trespassing. They charged the other boy with one count of each of those offenses.
Police said the youths allegedly vandalized industrial lighting and various construction equipment on January 11 at 123 South Main Street. The property is the former site of The Fireside Inn, which is being redeveloped into Highland Plaza.
Police received a report about the vandalism from a worker at the construction site on the morning of January 12.
After arrest processing, police released the youth charged with four offenses on $20,000 bail, and released the boy charged with two offenses on $10,000 bail. Both are scheduled for April 18 appearances at Danbury Youthful Offender Court.
