Newtown resident Liz Luzietti recently organized an outing at Dickinson Park with some of the au pairs under her care.

Ms Luzietti is a licensed childcare consultant for Cultural Care Au Pairs. She meets monthly with au pairs who are staying with families in Newtown, Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, Southbury, Oxford, Woodbury and Naugatuck. She tries to coordinate a fun event for all to take part in.

On July 16 the group met at Dickinson Park, where they enjoyed a performance by Survivors Swing Band, part of the 2015 Summer Concert Series presented by Newtown Parks & Recreation. As part of that gathering, according to Ms Luzietti, the group also enjoyed a picnic of myriad ethnic foods.

The concert series continues for three more weeks, with performances by The Frank Porto Band on July 30, Kenn Morr Band on August 6, and Willie Portera Band on August 13. Each Thursday evening concert begins at 6:30. Concerts are at the bandshell of Dickinson Park, 50 Elm Drive. They move to the pavilion in the event of rain.

Admission is free; BYO seating.

Cultural Care Au Pairs attended the Survivors Swing Band performance at Dickinson Park on July 16. The public is invited to enjoy any or all of the remaining performances in this year's schedule, which continues weekly until August 13.
