Help Revitalize Blue & Gold Stadium

I have been the treasurer for Newtown High School’s Blue & Gold Booster Club for the past four years. We support all sports and the athletic department. We have donated thousands and thousands of dollars to help the high school teams purchase new equipment, gym scoreboards and have awarded scholarships.

A small core group of Blue & Gold members has taken on the task of raising funds to revitalize Blue & Gold Stadium. The proposal would turf the field, add a building with more restrooms, add stadium seating for visitors, a storage building on the lower portion of the field as well as a storage/bathroom facility on the back fields. This would benefit the soccer, football, lacrosse, and field hockey players of all ages. There would be no limitations of the field. Our award-winning band can host large competitions. Relay For Life participants will benefit from more restroom facilities (their only limitation will be no tent stakes into the turf). This will be a win-win situation for everyone. My own daughters were so excited when they were younger when they got to play under the lights at Treadwell. What a thrill! Your younger child(ren) or grandchildren will be able to enjoy this opportunity at the stadium.

The old cliché time flies really is true. For those of you with younger children, you won’t have to wait until high school to benefit. For those of you with high schoolers, they’ll be out way too quickly. Let’s act now!

We are currently getting support from brick and turf purchases as well as other smaller fundraisers. A huge thank you to those of you who have already responded. However, we need $1 million. With 25,000 residents, this could happen if we receive $40 from each resident. I know this is not possible for everyone. I know taxes are not cheap, gas and oil prices are high, etc. But, if you are able to help, please, please consider it. If you have the means to give larger sums, please, please help us.
