I would like to post the following response to last Friday’s (August 18th) letter to the editor from Dr Michael Cassetta regarding his topic “A Discouraging Experience With Youth Sports.” I have since spoken to Dr. Cassetta but felt it important to also take responsibility in the matter and respond as follows. Please let me know if you have any questions.

The Newtown Soccer club prides itself on transparency and communication. However in this situation we failed to communicate to one of our members in a timely manner and for that I take full responsibility as president of the club. I have since contacted and spoken to Dr. Cassetta about his daughter's situation.
