Financial Strategies for Successful Retirement — A three-class course starting Wednesday, October 28; $29, plus a $30 materials fee payable to the instructor at the first class

With financial independence, retirement can be the most fulfilling time of life. This class will cover important money management concepts and issues that are valuable to people near or at retirement. Topics include how to reduce pressures on retirement income and which assets are appropriate for retirement income.

The Basics of Quickbooks for Your Office — A four-class course starting on November 2; $99.

The course will cover the key features of the highly popular business finance software. Income and expense tracking, checkbook management, credit card usage, liability accounts, customer lists, vendor lists, invoicing, and business reports are among the topics that will be covered by the course.

Clutter Therapy: Living an Organized Life — A one-time class on November 10; $29.

Students will learn to get organized with professional organizer Karen Pierce, who will guide and inspire the class through a quest to go from chaos to calm.

Social Security and You — A one time class on November 11; $29.

Attendees will learn how to get the most from Social Security, whether they are retired or close to retirement. The course will teach techniques to increase net retirement income, strategies on how to get the most from Social Security and Medicare benefits, and ten key facts about Social Security benefits.

DIY Holiday Essentials Using Essential Oils — A one time class on November 12; $34.

Essential oils are the very essence of the plant known as nature’s living energy. Participants will be using pure essential oils to create up to three “do it yourself” holiday gift items. Items may include fizzing bath bombs, exfoliating foot scrub, and a holiday room freshening spray. All supplies and instruction will be provided.

Introduction to PowerPoint — A two-class course starting on Thursday, November 12; $69.

Microsoft’s PowerPoint combines the features of a word processor, graphics program, and slide organizer into a tool specifically designed to add punch to your presentations. This hands-on workshop shows coursegoers how to get the most out of PowerPoint. Designing formats, importing text from outlines, and using built-in graphics tools to add persuasive graphs and charts to material will be covered by the course.

Getting Paid to Talk…an Introduction to Professional Voice Acting — A one-time class on November 12; $39.

From audio books and cartoons to documentaries, commercials, and more, this class will introduce attendees to the growing field of voiceovers. Participants will learn what the pros look for, how to prepare, and where to find work in the area.

The course will discuss industry pros and cons and play samples from working voice professionals. In addition, students will have an opportunity to record a short professional script under the direction of the teacher. Ballroom Dancing — A four-class course starting on Thursday, November 19; $99. Couples and singles welcome.

Participants will learn the fox trot, waltz, cha-cha, and other dances from instructors Joe Williams and Noni Low, who have been dancing together for more than 20 years and teaching ballroom dance for beginners to advanced for 15 years. Their basic concept of ballroom dancing consists of having fun with easy-to-learn instructions. 

Totally Toned — This six-class course starting on Thursday, November 19, $59, is designed to help participants tone up and have fun.

Each class will include a warm-up, toning exercises using handheld weights or the body’s own resistance and stretching. This course will help you tone up and increase your metabolism by increasing muscle cells.

Participants should wear comfortable clothing and sneakers, and are asked to bring bottled water, an exercise or yoga mat, and a pair of hand weights to each class (3 pounds for beginners and 5 pounds or higher for advanced).
