Mel Brooks’s 1974 comedy Young Frankenstein will be shown on Wednesday, October 28, at 1 and 7 pm, at the Edmond Town Hall Theatre.

Pre-show entertainment for the evening show will be offered by students of Lathrop School of Dance. To add to the fun, audience members are encouraged to dress in costume as Dr Frankenstein, Igor, or any other character from the film, to win a prize.

Tickets are $2 for all seats.

Unable to escape his family legacy, Dr Frederick Frankenstein (Gene Wilder) inherits the castle of his “lunatic” grandfather, the infamous Victor von Frankenstein.  Assisted by the voluptuous Inga (Terri Garr) and his henchman Igor (Marty Feldman), Frederick not only becomes a believer, but embraces his destiny and ultimately succeeds in reanimating the dead.

Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder adapted the works of Mary Shelley, and paid homage to the classic horror films of the 1930s and 1940s, with this film, which won Brooks the 1976 Toronto Film Festival Award for Best Comedic Film, and the film the 1975 Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, among other honors.

This special Sunday Cinema Series film is presented by Newtown Cultural Arts Commission, and sponsored by Village Perk Café in Sandy Hook.

Upcoming movies for the series are Breakfast at Tiffany’s, to be screened at 4 and 7 pm on Sunday, November 8; and The Sound of Music, also 4 and 7 pm, Sunday, December 13.
