She was the mother of Suzanne (Candee) Tartaglia of Newtown.
Mrs Candee was born on November 12, 1932 in Stratford, daughter of the late Wallace and Beatrice (Clark) Kamens. She lived her adult life in Easton, where she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, as well as an active community volunteer.
She graduated from Stratford High School in 1950, from Russell Sage College (RSC) in 1954, and received her certificate in physical therapy from the University of Pennsylvania in 1956. Always loyal and involved in Russell Sage College and the promotion of womenâs education, Mrs Candee devoted her adult life to serving her alma mater in a variety of roles. She was a Doris L. Crockett medallist, the highest award of distinction given by the RSC Alumnae Association.
A self-proclaimed lifelong Girl Scout, Mrs Candee received the Thanks Badge in recognition of more than 50 years of service to the Housatonic Girl Scout Council. She also devoted much of her time to the United Methodist Women. Through all of this and raising four children, Mrs Candee was a tireless partner to her husband of nearly 44 years in the running of Candee Farm, the familyâs pick-your-own raspberry and vegetable farm.
