Main Street will certainly be the loudest, busiest, craziest place for Trick-or-Treaters again this year. Homeowners know to expect a few thousand costumed guests at their doors within a few hours Saturday night, and police will be patrolling and helping with traffic control to make sure everyone has fun.

The Newtown Bee will be covering a few Halloween events this weekend, including Howl-O-Ween at Park & Bark and of course, Trick or Treating on Main Street, among others.

Newtown native Melissa Landin shared this photo with The Bee. The Division of Orthodontics at the University of Connecticut —  where Melissa (front row, fourth from left) is employed — dressed up as minions on Thursday, celebrating Halloween a little early. 

Meanwhile, costumed schoolchildren were spotted around town on Friday, decorated mailboxes and doorways were becoming more prevalent as the big day approached, and carved pumpkins were appearing everywhere (we hope many of our readers took time to create something for The Great Pumpkin Challenge on Main Street).

Newtown Senior Center and Nunnawauk Meadows each hosted Halloween celebrations on Friday, as did Newtown Parks & Recreation. The staff of C.H. Booth Library also had some fun on October 30, when staff members dressed as characters from Candy Land and then hosted a three-hour life-size version of the class board game over all three floors of the building.
