The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will host a demonstration by Robert Noreika on Wednesday, November 11. The free program will begin at 7:30 pm. It will be in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole).

His subject will be a watercolor landscape.

Mr Noreika is an elected artist of American Watercolor Society and The Salmagundi Club, among other organizations. A graduate of Paier School of art, he has been a professional artist for nearly 40 years.

He is a prominent watercolorist and illustrator whose paintings hang in many corporate and private collections throughout the US, Europe and Japan. He has, according to his website, been inspired by memories from his childhood, which was spent “joyfully fishing, and catching turtles and frogs.” His painting “Catfish and Turtles” is in the permanent collection of New Britain Museum of American Art. He is represented in numerous galleries.

He was awarded First Prize in the National Casein and Acrylic Show in 2005. He received a Gold Medal Founders Award from the CT Plein Air Painters Society and holds Artist Membership in the Salmagundi Club in New York City.

Mr Noreika conducts workshops in the Northeast, and teaches and lectures throughout New England. He has illustrated magazine editorials, and at least seven books.

Reservations are not needed for SCAN programs, but additional information is available by calling 203-426-6654.
