Organ Concert At Trinity

Organist George Swope will perform an organ concert in the Trinity Episcopal Church sanctuary, 36 Main Street, on Friday, January 16, at 8 pm, as part of Music @ Trinity’s 2008-09 Concert Series. The concert program will feature works by Boehm, Bach, Reger, Mendelssohn, Reinberger, and Franck, and will run about 45 minutes without intermission.

There will be a wine and cheese reception to follow. A freewill offering will be accepted at the door.

This concert, on Trinity’s Austin pipe organ, will be part of the Fridays @ Trinity offerings featuring a number of programs of quality classical music in Newtown on Friday evenings. Music @ Trinity seeks to offer fine music for the enjoyment of the community at large in the acoustically excellent sanctuary of the church.

Other planned events this season include Choral Evensong for Epiphany at 4 pm on Sunday, January 18; services of Taize in Lent; upcoming Friday evening organ recitals; and the return of the Yale Alley Cats to Trinity in April.

For more information contact Trinity’s music minister, Fiona Smith Sutherland, at 426-9070, extension 11, or MusicMinister@TrinityNewtownCT.org.
