This menorah, or chanukiah, is one of the smallest in the collection on view at C.H. Booth Library just in time for the observation of Hanukkah.
C.H. Booth Library is hosting its annual display from Hadassah of Newtown/Greater Danbury of Hanukkah menorahs, or chanukiah, according to a notice within this year’s display. Nineteen examples of the nine-branched candelabrum are on view, and they range in size and style, from a tiny silver traditional example (above) to larger models made of fused glass or glazed clay. The menorahs are on loan from various members of the local Hadassah organization, according to Debra Pollack Wollman, who set up the temporary exhibition on December 1. The collection will remain on view until December 14. While menorahs should be placed in the window of a home so that passersby can enjoy its beauty and appreciate the warmth of the Festival of Lights, this collection can be found in a display case on the library’s main floor, near the Fiction and Young Adult areas.
