A Positive Approach To Parenting

DANBURY — This summer, why not use the positive approach to parenting rather than a negative approach?

On Friday, June 30, child and family counselor Dr Edyth Denkin will discuss her new book, Why Can’t You Catch Me Being Good?, at Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Danbury Square, 15 Backus Avenue. The 26 principles in Dr Denkin’s book help parents focus on what their children are doing right and find positive ways to address the difficult situations every family encounters.

By making children feel loved, trusted and respected, Dr Denkin believes parents can reduce the resentment and misbehavior from children that tends to follow the negative reinforcement of always being told what they are doing wrong.
