Matt Pelisson scored a hat-trick and Newtown High School’s hockey team skated to a 10-2 triumph over Shepaug-Litchfield-Nonnewaug at Linen Rink at Gunnery School in Washington, on January 20.

Also scoring for Newtown were Scott McLean with a pair of net-finders, and Scott Bauer, Andrew Gardner, David Brestovansky, Domenic Cartelli, and Daniel Gruber with a goal apiece.

Lucas O’Brien and Cartelli each assisted on a trio of goals; Cole Bepko and Sean Ferris both had a pair of assists; and Stephan Pansa, Michael McCann, Gardner, and Bepko added helpers.

Newtown improved to 6-4 overall and bounced back from consecutive losses to New Fairfield-Immaculate (NFI) and Horace Greeley of New York. The Nighthawks were blanked 5-0 by NFI at Danbury Ice Arena on January 13, and beaten 4-2 by Horace Greeley at Brewster Ice Arena on January 16.
