HURRICANES 3, GATORS 2: Natalie Villa, Kate OâDell and Alex Isreal all scored to lift the Hurricanes to the win. Gina Pisacreta scored twice for the Gators while Meredith Letso and Anna Marie Unschuld played well.
NIGHTHAWKS 2, LIGHTNING 1: Maura McDade and Belle Hydock scored the goals that lifted the Nighthawks to the win. Cara Colacurcio and Ashley Davis both played well. For the Lightning, Megan McGowan scored the goal as Michelle Davies, Ashley Kuligowski and goaltender Kaitlin Marsden had fine games.

ALLSTARS 6, TORPEDOES 2: Jacob Dauz and Tylor Edward scored two goals each while Joshua Zimmermann and Matt Hill each scored one goal to lead the Allstars past the Torpedos. Michael Tuccio tended the net and Logan Roger had a solid game. For the Topedos Drew Woods and Nathaniel Burns scored one goal each, while Ben DâAgostino had a fine performance.
DOGNAPPERS 3, NIGHTMARE 1: Timmy Wiemoth, Zach Dent and Steve Musco scored goals and led the âNappers past the Nightmare. Brendan OâConnell and Shane Casey anchored the D. For the Nightmare, Trevor Todd scored the lone goal. Mitchell Lobugiro and Patric Shirley powered the offense as Nathan Barrett led the defense.

EAGLES 3, NIGHTHAWKS 0: Emily Rowe, Stefanie Clavette and Sarah Attansio all scored to lead the Eagles to the win. Nicole Davis played brilliantly for the Nighthawks, with a strong game played by Jenna Bonaccorso and Kyra Murray as well.
TORNADOES 2, EAGLES 0: Kaitlyn Connolly scored both goals as the Tornadoes beat the Eagles 2-0. Kelly Brooks and Randi Jackson played great in goal and on defense in the win. For the Eagles, Taylor Benson was strong on defense while Mallory Reilly and Sarah Attanasio played well.
DOLPHINS 2, LIGHTNING 1: Alison Pliszka scored two goals to lead the Dolphins to victory. Julia Klucik and Audra Sarna had great games on offense, and Kelly OâConnor played a strong fourth quarter at goalie to hold off the Lightning. Sarah Burnick scored for the Lightning, assisted by Amanda Kloth. Olivia Rowley and Amanda Stanton also played well for their team.
HURRICANES 2, TORNADOES 0: Mara Scallon and Caroline Lawrence scored goals in the second half for the Hurricanes while Alicia Carrafiello and Michaela Beaudry led the defensive effort. For the Tornadoes Susan Giarratano, Kaitlyn Connolly and Katie Burns played good games.
LIGHTNING 2, TORNADOES 0: Ellen Tabler and Paige Woodhouse scored first-half goals that held up in a Lightning victory. Jane Cozens and Lindsey Lively both played well for the Lightning on offense. For the Tornadoes, Rachael Taback and Nicole Vournazos were strong on defense â as was goaltender Chelsea Wilson.
DEFENDERS 4, STRIKERS 0: Jillian Jagoe delivered two goals while Emma Kingsley and Lila Kohrman-Glaser each scored one to give the Defenders a 4-0 victory. Haley Henry played a strong game. Celeste Cheung and Alyse Brautigam were outstanding in defense. The Strikersâ Cassie Fallon, Kendall Svanda, Lauren Meyer and Kelley Gaston played well.
DEFENDERS 5, TEAM (#9) 0: Lila Kohrman-Glaser lead the Defenders with two goals. Laura Curcuruto, Leah Barrett and Jillian Jagoe each scored one a piece to give the Defenders a 5-0 win. Great teamwork by Emma Kingsley, Casey Rutter and Emma Iannini. Team #9âs Jennifer Hammer, Emily Audet and Michelle Isabella all played well.
NIGHTHAWKS 1, HURRICANES 0: Katherine Martinelli scored for the Nighthawks in the fourth quarter of a game filled with end-to-end action. Katelyn Dandrea and Abbey Doski contributed good games for the winners. Emily Ashbolt, Mikaela McGuire and Nora Murphy played well for the Hurricanes.

WILDCATS A.C. 3, BOMBERS 0: Michael Greenwood had two goals and an assist while Sam Spiegel scored for the Wildcats. Four goal keepers helped preserve the shutout: Mac Morlock, Nicholas Badiola, Sam Spiegel, and Nicki Sajovic all had several saves and had clean sheets in the net.

RAPTORS 4, BERKSHIRE UNITED 1: The Raptors celebrated their first home game with a win over Berkshire United. Danny Clement scored the first two goals for the Raptors with assists from Adam Buccino and Daniel Greenwood. Sam Hoagland scored off of a penalty kick and Collin Jacob followed with an assist from Jeff DiNicola. The Raptors saw strong play from Eric Keogler, Ben Morrison and Kyle Droniak.

RAMPAGE 1, WOODBURY 0: Chelsea Fay scored the lone goal off a nicely-placed direct kick to lead the Rampage to the win. Laetitia de Brantes, Kristen Tanner and Berenice Bryant all applied offensive pressure against a tough defense. Katie Pessin and Allison Modzelewski combined in goal for the shutout.

HURRICANES 6, DARIEN 0 (State Cup): The Hurricanes got off to a great start leaving visiting Darien wondering what hit them Saturday afternoon. Kelley Sullivan knocked home two goals as did Kasey Schulz. Adelle Cerreta and Nora Lynn Shimko also scored for Newtown. The defense of Jennifer Brewer, Molly Curry and Colleen Thornberg frustrated Darienâs attack all day long. Katie Serock, Haley Keane and Cassie David added fuel to the Hurricaneâs fire.
HURRICANES 4, BERKSHIRE UNITED 1: Tania Domingos got the âCanes scoring off to a quick start, Kasey Schulz added the second score soon after. Berkshire closed the gap to 2-1, but then Adelle Cerreta banged home the âCanesâ third goal. Adelle scored the final goal on a penalty kick beyond the reach of the United keeper sealing the victory. Emily Weber, Genna Scheuerell, Sarah Shannon and Megan Hansen provided the extra punch in the Hurricane offense.

NEWTOWN 2, BERKSHIRE 2: Newtown kept its undefeated season alive on a 2-2 tie with Berkshire. Mickey Fay headed in Andrew Meiselâs beautiful crossing shot for the Nightmareâs first score. Ryan Goodridge followed with a strong rebound goal in the second half. Chris Parker and Andrew Domingos played very well for Newtown. Jason Kostecki had another solid game in goal.

VIPERS 7, BERKSHIRE UNITED 0: Hat-tricks by the Viper forwards Paul Andras and Anthony Florez highlighted the third Northwest Division win for Newtown. Drew Taylor also netted a Newtown ball as the Vipers went on to a 7-0 shutout victory. Ethan Canfield and Nick Kallivrousis maintained a steady pace for the Vipers in the first half, controlling most of the offensive push. Andras netted his first ball in the 26th minute but that was all that Newtown could finish with many attempts going wide and high. Andras found the nylon 38 seconds and then again within two minutes into the second half. Florez put his first in the net in the 10th minute and then the 20th and 21st. Taylorâs score came from a Kevin Troy cross in the 31st minute. Mat DeBrantes and Chris Meier helped to control Berkshires attack with no shots taken in the first half and only two taken in the second.
VIPERS 6, NEW CANAAN 0 (State Cup): The Vipers, defending State Cup Champions, began their Fall Cup Tournament play as anticipated with aggressive team play and a venomous attack. Denying New Canaan was the first priority and Justin Miller and Jason Smith, sharing center midfield, did just that. With consistent marking, Newtown won almost every 50/50 ball, with possession Newtown pushed forward and relentlessly shot on goal. Kevin Troy found the back of the net and then goals followed by Anthony Florez, Kevin Davies and Miller. With a 4-0 halftime cushion, Newtown settled in and defensive stops by Sean Weir, Chris Schreiber and Mat DeBrantes were key helping to keep New Canaan away from the Viper net. Danny Smith was rock solid in the net for the Vipers in the first half and then played aggressively up front. Troy and Paul Andras both scored in the second half.

NITROS 7, NEW CANAAN 0 (State Cup): The Nitros displayed an awesome offense and defense in their first State Cup victory. Erica Vacaro, Lindsay Weber pulled hat-tricks with three goals apiece and Sara Peters added one. Rosie Jackman, back from injury, made her season debut with numerous assists. The defense, Shannon Kirch, Jen Iassogna, and Heather Young allowed only a single shot. Rachael Eastman, Jen Greenwood, Sara Gutbrod, and Kristene Salbu contributed greatly with strong mid-field play to help dominate.
GIRLS U14
TERRYVILLE 3, NITROS 1: The U13 Nitros playing up in the U14 league were outmuscled in a physically grueling game which saw injuries to several players. Terryville stifled the offense, but Kristene Salbu launched a long goal shot in the first half for the Nitrosâ only score. Keepers Emma MacHughand, Sara Gutbrod and the defense of Shannon Kirch, Jen Iassogna, and Heather Young kept Terryvilleâs offense from running away with the game.

STORM 6, NEW MILFORD 1: Nick Sando, Scott Kohn, Tad Pierson, Justin Carotti, Max Barrett and Jon Hartlett all scored as the Storm put together its best offensive performance of the season. Tyler Bigham, Chris Nuelle and Will Brooks all provided assists.
STORM 1, OXFORD 0 (State Cup): It was a defensive battle right off the bat in the second round of the CJSA State Cup. Oxford had the best opportunity early, getting awarded a penalty kick, but Newtown goaltender Steve Marks made a diving save to keep the game scoreless. The defensive battle continued into the second half when Justin Carotti found Max Barrett with a long pass that Max slipped past the Oxford goalie into the net. Oxford then stepped up its offensive pressure, but the defensive play of Will Brooks, Matt Boland, Alex de Brantes, Jim Wilkins and Billy McCann held the opponents off. As rain descended with 15 minutes left to play, Marks had to make several fine saves to preserve the shutout. Barrett had a chance to put Newtown ahead, 2-0, but his shot was held up by standing water in front of the net. With the win, the Storm advanced into the third round.
GIRLS U14
ROCKETS 6, TOLLAND 0: Tara Gaston scored the first goal to get the Rockets started. Constant pressure by Mary Grace Ober, Jill Tanner, Caitlin Hansen and Kristina Haliskoe opened Casey Frobey for a second strike minutes later with an assist from Tara Gaston. Alex Konneker hit the back of the net with an assist from Frobey to give the Rockets a 3-0 lead at the half. The second half saw a continuation of strong defense by Elyssa Samsel, Megan Rawson, Emily Fields, and Erin Clark. Gaston scored her second goal with an assist from Frobey. Kayla Mesko followed with two more goals with assists from Konneker. The offense saw solid play from Sarah Salbu, Elaine McCaffery and Diana Rawson. Maria Cinquegrana and Vicky Thomas shared in goal.

BOYS U13
SAMBA 3, CHESHIRE 2: The 2-0 Samba squad got off to a slow start, as Cheshire found the back of the net early. Samba quickly responded when Nick Gantsoudes scored off a feed from Ryan Ogiela, but Cheshire answered with a quick goal. Trailing 2-1 at halftime, Samba controlled the second half, but could not score till the final minute, when Aron Fay found Michael Klein in the box, and Klein beat the Cheshire goalie for the tie. Defensively, Mike Vontobel, Chris Howley, Mike Kennedy, Ryan Derrig and Justin Durelli shut down Cheshire in the second half. In the midfield, Brian Conner and Mark Cinquegrana played strong games. Sean Cummins was solid with 13 saves in goal.
