Attends Canadian Conference

Dr Della Schmid recently attended the World Federation of Chiropractic’s 10th Biennial Congress in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The three-day conference included more than a thousand doctors of chiropractic and students from 38 countries.

Hosted by the Canadian Chiropractic Association, the meeting’s theme, “Celebrating Chiropractic in the 21st Century,” included content that strongly supported the science, philosophy, and art of chiropractic through renowned worldwide speakers and published research presentations.

Conference presenters included Scott Haldeman, DC, MD, PhD, speaking on the ten-year Bone and Joint Disease Neck Pain Task Force results, which describe a new model of neck pain management; Georges C. Benjamin, MD, executive director of the American Public Health Association, presenting on “The Significance of Public Health, The American Public Health Association and its Chiropractic Division”; and David Eisenberg, MD, director of Harvard Medical School’s Osher Research Center, who shared his insights regarding “A Model of Integrative Care Involving Chiropractic and Allopathic Doctors in a Harvard Teaching Hospital.”

In addition, Jack Taunton, MD, and Robert Armitage, DC, FCCSS, held Sports Chiropractic Grand Rounds and discussed preparations for the Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010 and the integration of medical and chiropractic services offered to the athletes.

Dr Schmid has been in private practice Newtown for more than 16 years, serves on the board of Kevin’s Community Center, and owns Colonial Chiropractic Centre at 19 Church Hill Road.
