To the Editor:
I am writing in support of Chris Lyddy for state representative. It has been a number of years since we have had a Democrat running for this seat, and I am proud to support him in this campaign. Having a Democratic representative will be a true change for Newtown. It will give us someone who is more able to fight on the front lines, as legislation from the majority party is more likely to get out of committees, onto the floor of the legislature, and passed.
Chris has earned my vote not just because he is a Democrat, but because of what he stands for. Chris truly understands that in order to best represent Newtown and our needs, he needs to be in touch with us. Over the past few months, Chris has spoken with thousands of voters and has heard firsthand about what is important to them. Chris has shared with many of us that he will continue to listen to voters once he is elected, holding office hours and coffees here in Newtown, as ways to continue to be in touch with others and hear about what is on their minds. It is encouraging to know that Chris is truly looking out for the good of Newtown. I know that Chris will be a strong advocate for Newtown in the legislature as he has been on the Legislative Council. After receiving the highest number of votes of any council candidate and becoming the youngest elected official in Newtown, Chris has worked hard on a number of issues.
Chris advocated for Newtown when Charter Communications was trying to violate our privacy. Chris ensured that citizens would be protected by making it more difficult for emergency services to be suspended for repeat false alarms. Chris fought for traffic measuring devices before and after traffic calming devices were installed to ensure that âstreet warsâ didnât happen from traffic being diverted from one road to the other. As a member of the ad-hoc public relations committee, Chris is working to make Legislative Council meetings more accessible to the public. As a public servant, Chris is clearly working hard to serve us on a town level. With his work ethic, energy, and enthusiasm, there will be no limits to what Chris works for and fights for when he gets to Hartford.
I hope you will join me in voting for Chris Lyddy for State Representative on November 4. I know that he is exactly the change we need in Hartford. Please visit www.ChrisLyddy.com for more information.
Sincerely,
Jim Juliano
