“You don’t need to live with that pain in your neck!” is the message Michele Grand is sending out.

“I have always, always, always wanted to be a massage therapist,” said Ms Grand. A graduate of George Washington University with a degree in business, she recently took advantage of an opening in her life that allowed her to return to school and pursue her dream.

 She graduated from the Connecticut Center of Massage Therapy in Newington in August 2013, and on February 1, Ms Grand opened Green Crystal Massage at 117C Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook Center, in the lower level of the building that houses Subway.

 “I have loved to receive massages my whole life, but I’ve always had a healing touch for others, I think. Now, with all the training, I understand the human body. The great thing about massage is that there are no negative side effects. My natural touch and knowledge now allow me to help clients,” said Ms Grand.

Sessions are tailored to fit the clients’ needs. Ms Grand specializes in trigger point and deep tissue massage, but offers Swedish massage and hot stone massage, as well. The 60- or 90-minute sessions are “a nice combination of pain relief and relaxation,” she said. Shorter, 30-minute sessions are available for focused massage work.

Although she characterizes her massage as being more therapeutic than simply relaxing, by incorporating aromatherapy and soothing music into the experience, Green Crystal Massage clients will enjoy a spalike atmosphere, said Ms Grand.
