Winter Programs For Children At The C.H. Booth Library
The C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street, is offering a variety of winter programs for children this season.
Bring the Hoopla is a hula hooping class that is fun for the whole family and will take place in the library’s Meeting Room on Saturday, January 19, at 2 pm.
According to the library’s calendar description, “Hula Hooping is a positive, fun activity that the entire family can enjoy. No prior hooping experience necessary. Well-balanced hoops will be provided.”
The program is geared for ages 4 and up, and participants can register for the class online.
Take Your Child To The Library Day
On February 2, the C.H. Booth Library will be celebrating Take Your Child to the Library Day, where it will encourage the community to come by and learn about its early literacy programs, educational resources, and upcoming events.
Children’s Librarian Alana Bennison said the national initiative originated in Connecticut and that the C.H. Booth Library will have two special programs take place that day.
Spanish-English Story Time with Belen Fiallo will be the first scheduled event of the day, running from 1 to 1:45 pm, in the Story Time Room.
Mr Fiallo was born in Ecuador and is the author of a bilingual children’s book called Eri’s Adventure. During the program, he will introduce children, ages 4 to 6, to basic Spanish words through stories, songs, and play.
The C.H. Booth Library will also be hosting “Jack and the Beanstalk: A Live Musical Interpretation,” for ages 4 and up, in its Meeting Room, from 2 to 2:45 pm, on February 2.
According to the library’s calendar description, “Jack and the Beanstalk comes to life with the help of the ‘giant’ of the string section, the double bass. Waterbury Symphony bassist, Ed Allman, will read the classic story, complete with musical excerpts, as well as talk about the double bass and his life as a musician. The program will conclude with an opportunity for both children and adults to see the ‘giant’ up close!”
Both Take Your Child to the Library Day programs encourage participants to register for the classes online.
