Newtown resident Aimee Pokwatka will be teaching at C.H. Booth Library's Creative Writing Summer Camp for young adults. It is part of the library's year-round peer group for passionate young writers at the library. This summer, the camp will meet on the following Thursdays: July 7, 14, 21, 28, and August 4. Rising grades 6 and 7 will meet from 3:30 to 5:30 pm, and rising grades 8 and 9, from 6 to 8 pm.chboothlibrary.org.

Participants are expected to attend all five sessions. This program is for young people who love to write. All sessions will allow time for writing and sharing stories, as well as creative activities. Information and signup are online at the library's website

Aimee Pokwatka grew up in Wheeling, W.V. She studied anthropology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and received her MFA in creative writing from Syracuse University. She has worked at Blockbuster Video, where she rewound and shrink-wrapped VHS tapes, and as a veterinary technician, where she once tended to a lion cub from the circus.

She has also taught writing to middle schoolers, college students and adults, and served as the editor of Salt Hill Journal and The Newtowner. Over the past several years she has taught creative writing at C.H. Booth Library. With her encouragement and guidance, young writers are able to find their own unique and genuine voices.
