Most Lego cars need a push from the builder to get rolling, but at the Lego in Motion Camp at Hawley Elementary School, campers assembled cars that could move on their own with help from a motor.

The camp, offered through Newtown Parks and Recreation July 5 through July 8, taught campers how to make different motorized Lego sets including cars, tractors, and conveyor belts, instructor Jill Tino said.

Ms Tino added that she has also incorporated teaching some math and science to the first grade to third grade campers.

"[Legos are an] excellent way to learn problem solving as well," she said.

Camper Mark Aquilio said the camp has been a "very good" time, and he decided to go because he likes Legos a lot.

"It's fun to build and create," Mark said. "It helps to exercise your brain."
