Occupation: I am a business intelligence developer for ESPN. I provide information to business users via data that's all compiled. It is part of IT. I have been doing that for a while. It is a method of reporting for business users, so they can compile data and make decisions off of it.

Family: I am married to my husband, Charlie. I have two kids: Zachary, who just turned 13, and Chelsea, who is 10.

Pets: We have our dog, Piper, who we adopted from Labs For Rescue. They rescue from high-kill shelters in southern states. She was in Louisiana and was transported up to Danbury. We adopted her about four years ago. Our cat Bella we got from the Newtown pound and adopted her a little over four years ago.

How long have you lived in Newtown? We have lived in Newtown since 1999, so about 17 years now. We lived over in the Botsford section for about six years before we had kids. Then as our family expanded we looked for something bigger in a cul-de-sac neighborhood.

What do you like to do in your free time? In the past few years, I have taken up jewelry making and been studying different methods, such as beading. I've taken classes in silversmithing, working with silver clay, or soldering regular silver. I am interested in taking classes in other areas of jewelry making. Recently, I have taken up a childhood passion of ballet. I started taking an adult ballet class at the Newtown Centre of Ballet this year.

Who is your favorite musical artist? I like all kinds of music; I listen to everything from classical music to Broadway shows to hard metal guitar. I would say my favorite musical artist would be Steve Vai. He grew up in Long Island and has such a passion for guitar that he practices not just a few hours, but for eight or nine hours a day. He is someone who strives to get better at what he does.

Do you have a favorite book? I like to read a lot of nonfiction like Malcolm Gladwell's books. He does a lot of investigation as far as why things are the way they are, and how people who are successful get to be the way they are. I also like to read personal memoirs like Cheryl Strayed's Wild.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? As a family, we have been to Maine quite a few times. My mother lived near Acadia, and we used to go there a lot. I have also explored some of the backwoods of Maine. I've taken an Outward Bound class where we hiked part of the Appalachian Trail near Bethel, Maine. Recently, we went up to Camden, which is the midcoast of Maine. I would also love to go back to Germany, where I went a couple times when I was younger.

What is the best thing about Newtown? I love the fact that it feels like a country setting, but it is still very close to the metropolitan areas. I knew when I was going to be raising children that I wanted to raise them in a town like Newtown.

Who has been the greatest influence in your life? Everybody I meet has some influence, because everybody has something to inspire others with. So, as you go through this life you meet people here and there who inspire you in different ways.

What is your guilty pleasure? I love sea-salt caramel ice cream.
