Drug Charges
Police report that they were called to Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street on the evening of January 5, after a youth was seen there in possession of an illegal substance. Police said they investigated the complaint and charged Brandon Ballard, 18, of 40 Tunnel Road with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana and with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said they released Ballard on a promise to appear January 28 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.
Tractor-Trailer Mishap
Tractor-trailer trucker Charles Hall, 59, of Fargo, N.D., who was driving a 2001 Peterbilt truck, pulled into a parking lot at 81 South Main Street in order to turn around at about 9:45 am January 5, police said.
While leaving the driveway at that address, the truck snagged low-hanging overhead utility lines and pulled them down, police said. There were no injuries.
South Main Collision
Motorist Donna Arnold, 36, of 8 Hawthorne Hill Road, who was driving a 1999 Nissan Maxima southward on South Main Street at about 2:10 pm January 6, slowed to make a left turn into Rickyâs Shopping Plaza, police said.
Southbound motorist Brian Fulton, 27, of New Milford, who was driving a 1999 Sterling truck, attempted to pass the Nissan on the right, but collided with it, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Fulton a written warning for passing on the right.
