Truck Into Pole
Police report that motorist Gregory Ramos, 31, of Danbury, who was driving a 1998 Isuzu garbage truck southbound on Valley Field Road about 10:20 am July 5, lost control of the truck and struck a utility pole off the southbound road shoulder.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps treated Mr Ramos at the scene for minor arm and hand cuts, police said. Police issued him a written warning for making an improper right turn.
Cellular Thefts
A Button Shop Road man was entering his vehicle at home to go to work about 6:30 am July 7 when he noticed that a cellular telephone and a tool bag which had been in the vehicle were missing, police said. The man then discovered that another cellular telephone had been stolen from his other vehicle. Both vehicles had been parked in the manâs driveway since 9:30 pm the previous day, police said.
Police ask anyone with information about the incident of fifth-degree larceny to contact them at the police station, telephone 426-5841.
Criminal Trespassing
Police charged two local youths each with second-degree criminal trespassing following an incident early on the morning of July 9.
Police charged Robert Girard, 17, of 54 Main Street, and Brian Patrick Gibbons, 17, of 55 Cedar Hill Road in the case.
Police said they found a vehicle parked behind a building on Queen Street about 1:20 am July 9. A television set was found on a lawn next to the vehicle, according to police. Police said they learned that the television set and other items had been taken from a residence which the youths had no permission to enter, after which they charged both youths.
Police released both youths on promises to appear July 24 in Danbury Superior Court.

Church Hill DWI
Police said they saw motorist Scott Sallisky, 20 of Danbury driving closely behind another eastbound vehicle on Church Hill Road about 12:30 am July 8. Police said they stopped Sallisky and gave him sobriety tests which he failed.
Police charged him with driving while intoxicated, following too closely, and failure to carry a driverâs license.
After processing, police released Sallisky for a July 25 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Dog Charge
Police report they served a warrant July 7 against Natalie Hoeffel, 46, of Old Green Road listing charges of failure to respond to an infraction and allowing a dog to roam. Police said the warrant stems from a past dog incident. After posting a bond, Ms Hoeffel was released for a July 18 court appearance, police said.
Turning Traffic
Police said motorist John J. Barry, 17, of 9 Washbrook Road, who was driving a 1997 Ford Windstar minivan about 9:30 pm July 8, was exiting a driveway at St Rose Church onto Church Hill Road to go westbound, when Barry struck westbound motorist Thomas F. Fullman , 17, of 15 Bridge End Farm Lane, who was driving a 1984 Volvo DL-40. There were no injuries, police said.
Criminal Mischief
Police said they received a report about 10 am July 9 that a security guard had found several incendiary devices at the Tilcon sand and gravel mine on Button Shop Road. Two of those devices had ignited, but had not caused property damage, police said.
The devices consisted of glass bottles filled with flammable liquids, police said.
The patrol and detective units as well as the state fire marshalâs office are investigating, police said.
Moving Violations
State police said they saw motorist Tim D. Burke, 32, of Waterbury straddling the right travel lane and right road shoulder of westbound Interstate-84 west of Exit 10 about 5 pm July 7. State police said they stopped the vehicle and charged Burke with failure to maintain operation within a travel lane and operating a motor vehicle while under suspension. State police released him on bond for a July 17 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Exit 11 Collision
State police report motorist Jason A. Bharath, 32, of Richmond Hill, NY, who was driving a 2000 Nissan Altima on the eastbound Interstate-84 Exit 11 off-ramp about 4 pm July 4, encountered a stopped line of vehicles as he came around a sharp curve on the ramp.
Bharath drove to the left to avoid the stopped vehicles and went onto a grassy median, striking a traffic sign, state police said. Bharath was not injured, state police said. State police said they issued Bharath a warning.
The backed-up traffic on the exit ramp occurred due to a non-posted driver spot check being conducted by Newtown police in the area, state police said.
Motorcycle Accident
Police said motorcyclist Victor A. Coppola, 30, of Norwalk was southbound on South Main Street near the Italian Pavilion restaurant about 10:20 pm July 4 when a small animal ran onto the road, causing him to lock up the motorcycleâs rear brake and collide with steel guard cabling along the roadside.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps treated Coppola at the scene, police said.
Police said they issued Coppola an infraction ticket on a charge of failure to keep to the right on a curve.

DWI Charge
Police said motorist Robert Connolly, 39, of Ansonia turned himself in at the police station July 11 after learning that police had a warrant for his arrest.
Police charged Mr Connolly with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving in connection with a May 12 accident which occurred on Jeremiah Road near Bristle Lane.
After processing, police released Mr Connolly on a written promise to appear July 25 in Danbury Superior Court.
Church Hill DWI
Police report that while on patrol about 10:40 pm July 11, they spotted motorist David Jones, 30, of Ridgeland, Miss., driving through a red traffic signal at the intersection of Church Hill Road and Interstate-84. Police said they stopped the vehicle Jones was driving and gave him field sobriety tests, which he failed.
Police charged Jones with driving while intoxicated and failure to obey a state traffic control signal. Police held Jones on bond for a court appearance the following day.
Thrown Object
Police said they received a report about 6 pm July 7 from a local motorcyclist that while he was driving on Church Hill Road the driver of an automobile threw an object at him, striking him in the back, leaving a mark and causing pain.
The motorcyclist obtained the driverâs marker plate number, police said.
Police said they later charged Douglas Randlett, 19, of 14 Indian Hill Lane, Sandy Hook, with second-degree assault in connection with the incident. Police released Randlett for a July 20 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
