Barbara Olson, 52, formerly of Newtown, died on September 13 at her home in Vero Beach, Fla., after a brief battle with lung cancer.

In addition to many friends, Ms Olson is survived by her four children, Christopher Tuliano of Lake Worth, Fla., Rebecca (Tuliano) Anderson of Atlanta, Ga.; Robert Hyers, Jr and Dennis Jay (DJ) Hyers, both of Vero Beach, Fla. She is also survived by her mother, Edna Olson of Southbury; three sisters, Maida Olson of Woodbury, Denise (Olson) Westover of South Britain, and Austine Olson of Forest Hills, N.Y.; and a brother, Fred Olson of Albion, Calif. She leaves two grandchildren, Corey Lee Anderson and McKale Stephen Hyers; and five nieces and nephews; as well as Jerry Tuliano, her close friend and ex-husband; and Dan Blocker, her friend and companion for many years. Her father, Harry V. Olson, predeceased her.

Private remembrance celebrations will be held in Florida and Connecticut. In lieu of flower or gifts, the family requests that donations be made to a friend in need or a charity of personal preference.
