The 2016 Interfaith Thanksgiving Gathering of Prayer and Song being presented by Newtown Interfaith Clergy Association will follow the tradition of being offered the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

This year's special service will be on November 20. It will begin at 7 pm, and will take place at Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street. Members of the interfaith clergy association take turns hosting the service each year.

All are invited to join together for the one holiday that Americans of all faiths - along with those of no religious faith - celebrate. The theme is "Celebrating Our Diversity in Unity." There will be a special emphasis on music, with a children's choir led by Newtown resident and music educator Jim Allyn. There will also be an adults choir, directed by John Leibensperger, and additional music by NCC Organist Phil Crevier.

Those who enjoy singing, and would like to participate, are invited to be at NCC at 6 pm that evening in order to rehearse a song that will be shared during the service. Music can be picked up prior to November 20 by contacting Newtown Congregational Church (203-426-9024) or visiting its office.

A collection will again be taken for local food pantries. Canned goods and monetary donations will be accepted.

A light reception will follow.

For additional information, call Newtown Congregational Church or send email to newcong@sbcglobal.net.
