Special Reading Of 'Christmas At Macomber's,' Saturday Evening
BROOKFIELD - The Brookfield Theatre of the Arts will present a staged reading of Christmas At Macomber's on Saturday, December 10.brookfieldtheatre.org.
The free event, featuring the work of Newtown resident and multiple Emmy Award-winning author Ray Sipherd, will begin at 8 pm.
Mr Sipherd provides the following synopsis: "Like the holiday itself, Christmas At Macomber's combines celebration, sentiment, imagination, and illusion.
"To the customers and salespeople of Macomber's, a large, urban department store, Thomas Cavanaugh is a familiar face. A longtime employee with an engaging charm and keen, observant eye, he recalls some of the most memorable stories of the holidays that he encountered in the great emporium during the many years he walked its floors.
"Among them is the challenge posed by one shopper's list of Christmas gifts; the festive way five temporary sales people celebrate on Christmas Eve; the touching tale of the young man responsible for items lost and, for him, found inside the store; the mystery behind a man whose visits to the Books Department grow more puzzling as Christmas nears; and finally, Mr Cavanaugh's very personal account of his own life within the store itself.
"Step into Macomber's and be enraptured by the warmth, delight, and wonder that await!"
