The Healing Touch For Babies
The Healing Touch For Babies
The doctors and staff of Newtown Chiropractic and Community Health Associates will present the final program of âAssuming Responsibility for Your Healthâ October 14 at 6:30 pm at the C.H. Booth Library.
Massage therapist Virginia Weisgerber will present âPregnancy and Infant Massage Techniques.â
Everyone knows massage is good for circulation, sore muscles, and stress, but what can it do for pregnant women and infants? This seminar will discuss the benefits of massage on expectant mothers, how to reduce swelling and edema, and also show specific acupressure points to help with labor. Mothers-to-be should bring a pillow or two so their spouses can learn some side-lying massage techniques to help ease some sore muscles.
Ms Weisgerber will also show new parents the proper way to massage their babies. Massage is great for new babies and parents to create a loving bond. It also helps to soothe cranky or colicky infants and helps to aide in digestion. She will also demonstrate some stretching and flexibility exercises parents can use as their infants begin to develop and move around. These massage techniques and flexibility exercises can be used on infants from newborn and up, as long as they sit still long enough. Bring a fluffy blanket or mat for baby to lay on.
There is no charge for this seminar. Healthy refreshments will be served.
