Let People Make Their Own Decisions
Let People Make Their Own Decisions
To the Editor:
Recently, Duncan Brown wrote a letter saying that same sex unions is a bad idea. He says that âMarriage for centuries has been one man and one woman.â In the event that the spelling is not perfectly clear, âSame Sex Unionâ and âMarriageâ are spelled completely differently.
Why will allowing same sex unions be such a bad precedent? Is it because weâre letting people make their own decisions, and not having the government tell them who they can and cannot love? Is that it? Oh no, people might start a revolution with their wanting rights similar to marriage, except that it will be between two men or two women. Is it really so bad that two men or two women could care so much about each other as to want to form a same sex union? I fail to understand how an adult, who is perfectly capable of making decisions for themselves, suddenly happen to be told that they canât care about someone as deeply as they do.
For the record, not everyone follows God. Not everyone is involved in religion. Think outside the box.
Sincerely,
Matt Cole
