Career Day At The Middle School

Eighth graders at Newtown Middle School had many chances to learn from professionals on Friday, November 14, when the school held its annual Career Day.

The event was organized by school counselors Susan Connelly and Tina Broccolo.

Each year eighth grade students rotate between classrooms to hear from multiple professionals who visit the school to talk about their careers. The presenters shared experiences with the students during three half-hour sessions.

This year’s presenters, according to the school, included artist/muralist Alison Cummings, AIN Publications’ Victoria Tod, chef Andrew Howgego, chiropractor Della Schmid, clinical psychologist Tod Bogdanoff, designer  for Thule David Budd, electrical engineer David Matthews, e-mail marketer Lori Clure, FBI agent and telecommunications manager Mark DeWolfe, firefighter Allan Lewis, graphic designer Michele Lurie, oral surgeon Christopher Cuomo, pediatrician Marina Arena, performing artist Martin Blanco, physical therapist Stephanie Carson, product marketer Tim McCleary, research scientist Tammy Bigwarfe, solar electrician Herb Flynn, State Trooper Scott Spraggins, and wedding photographer Shawn James.
